Nancy?

What do you think of [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]? Old fashioned or revival-ready? Associations?

I’ve only just entertained the thought of it going on my favourites list. Does it go with the other names on my list?

[name_u]Florence[/name_u]
[name_f]Frida[/name_f]
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]

What do you think?

If you had asked me last week, I would have said it’s old fashioned and not ready for a revival. I couldn’t understand how it was still hanging onto the SSA charts for so long. It just did not sound fresh or fit for a newborn child.

But, as of literally yesterday, I was reading a thread somewhere (not even about names) and someone mentioned a child named [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] in passing and it kind of came off as cute. So, I think [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] could grow on me! I honestly have to mull it over a little bit more, but I see it as revival-ready maybe in the next 5-10 years?

Honestly, I don’t really think it goes with your other names at the moment, since they all seem to be quite on trend (not trendy) right now, and [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] isn’t (at least not yet), but it doesn’t sound bad.

[name_f]Nancy[/name_f] is definitely ready for revival, and [name_f]Nan[/name_f] as a nn has always been darling.

[name_f]Nancy[/name_f] is sweet has a cool vintage vibe and personally feels fashionable she’s in keeping with [name_f]British[/name_f] naming trends.

[name_f]My[/name_f] friend has a daughter named [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] Fl0rence she’s her eldest and her youngest is B0nnie [name_f]May[/name_f]. I feel that her sibling set is quintessentially [name_f]British[/name_f], fashionable and definitely not surprising. [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] seems very in keeping with the likes of [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] .

Looking at your list I think [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] would pair well with [name_u]Florence[/name_u], [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] & [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. Honestly if you like [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] go & list her :white_heart:

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

[name_f]Nancy[/name_f] is pretty cute and sparky - it has a wholesome yet bubbly feel, clunky cute but stylish too. It fits in with your other names as sort of vintage-revival. It’s in the UK top 100 so it doesn’t feel too old fashioned to me

Don’t know if you’ve seen Stranger Things, but legendary bad*ss [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_m]Wheeler[/name_m] makes me love this name!! Makes a fresh and fiery association for a mild and merry name. Plus, [name_f]Nan[/name_f] as a nickname? Too freaking cute. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I like [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]! I prefer it as a nickname for a longer name like [name_f]Nanette[/name_f] or [name_f]Constance[/name_f], but I do think it’s cute and would work for a person at any phase of life.

I love Nan… [name_f]Nanette[/name_f] seems fresh. But there’s still too many retirement-aged women called [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] that it doesn’t seem revival-ready yet, imo. But maybe a baby [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] would change my mind!

I love Nancy!! As @snowmaiden mentioned, the Stranger Things character totally changed my perception of the name [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. I think it’s a cute and sweet name that also sounds spunky and fresh! She’s totally revival-ready. I think it goes perfectly with the other gorgeous names on your list, especially [name_f]Margot[/name_f] & [name_u]Florence[/name_u]!

Definitely revival ready and goes great with the rest of your list. I really like it!

I have! It made me notice the name originally, seeing it on a younger person. But I kind of get a feeling that it may be a nickname for something like [name_u]Anne[/name_u] in this situation because that’s how it initially started and was popular. I usually don’t like nickname-turned-full-name names, that’s why I hesitate. But [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] has grown on me.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it!! [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] is surprisingly absent on here…

I’m in the Uk and know three Nancys under the age of 25, so I’ve never really thought of it as a name in need of a revival, interesting

I like [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]! I would say its ready for revival. [name_f]My[/name_f] 3 year old is obsessed with the [name_f]Fancy[/name_f] [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] book series so thats my strongest association with it and it makes it feel young and fresh.
