I’ve been obsessed with [name_f]Nanette[/name_f] lately, but I do like to take the overall impression of the name (classic, dated, trendy, hipster, elegant, nicknamey, etc.) into consideration. Problem is, I have no idea what kind of impression [name_f]Nanette[/name_f] might make on people. Is it quirky yet polished? Or frumpy? Or silly? What would you think if you met a little [name_f]Nanette[/name_f]?
Hm… I never disliked it, but I do dislike the nickname [name_f]Nan[/name_f]. If you were to use it, I’d use [name_f]Anne[/name_f] or [name_f]Etta[/name_f] for a nickname. I would definitely not mind meeting a little [name_f]Nanette[/name_f]!
I have an older relative named [name_f]Nanette[/name_f]. She has always been beautiful and kind, dark hair, dark eyes. It has always given me a warm soft spot for this name:)
I personally don’t like it. To me it sounds too nicknameish thought it’s not a short name. The name is also in my opinion too sweet and frilly.
I think it’s cute!
I would assume it was a nickname for [name_f]Anne[/name_f]/[name_f]Ann[/name_f]/[name_f]Anna[/name_f], I think. I feel it’s a bit cutesy for an adult woman, but that may just be me. Also, ‘[name_f]Nan[/name_f]’ here is a term of endearment for one’s grandmother, so that might be confusing as well, depending on where you live. What about something like [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f], nicknamed [name_f]Nanette[/name_f]?
I’ve known of two Nanettes in my life, both were women who are 40+. It would definitely be intriguing to meet a little [name_f]Nanette[/name_f], though I personally would not use it.
It has a 1950’s feel to it and makes it sound like an old actress
I personally like it I think it’s refreshing in a time of butch girls names and a butt ton of “aidens”
I think it is sweet and seems very maternal. It reminds me of the endearing “[name_f]Nanny[/name_f]” that children (myself included) often call a special loved one.
I think it is really cute! It reminds me a lot of Annettes I know who are all my mom’s age, but I think the “[name_f]Nan[/name_f]” part makes it more like a grandparents-generation name so it would seem vintage rather than outdated on a little girl. In the [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] American Girl series, [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]'s little sister is named [name_f]Nan[/name_f]. So [name_f]Nanette[/name_f] makes me think of that–sort of colonial and sensible (with the “ette” adding a little flair).
I prefer [name_f]Annette[/name_f], but I think that [name_f]Nanette[/name_f] is okay. It’s not one of my favorite names, but I would accept it.
