NaNoWriMo

I’ve already posted this on another writing board and figured I’d repost it here

So NaNoWriMo is coming up and I was wondering if anyone was going to participate in it. I did it last year and managed to win, just a little over 50,000 words. The story was kind of a mess and I haven’t looked at it since but at least I’ve written things out that otherwise would not have been written. That’s why I want to give it a try again this year.

For NaNo, I’ve been thinking about this particular story (or rather stories) that I’ve been brainstorming for the last 3 to 4 years. I’ve written out bits and pieces but nothing whole and since it’s been on my mind quite a bit lately, I figure NaNo would be the perfect time to delve right back into it. I guess I’d call it a fantasy/sci-fi mythological fantasy with magic and technology set in a world where giant landmasses float above thick yellowish clouds hiding whatever is beneath it.

I don’t know if I’ll be able to win NaNo like I did last year- I remember it was exhausting just keeping up with the word count each day- but it was a good kick to get me started. So is anyone else doing NaNo this year as well?

I’m doing NaNoWriMo! My school recently started a creative writing club so I think we’re planning to do it as a group. At the very least, I know a few people, including my friend [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], are doing it. I did it last year and made it to the 50,000 words. The story was something I started working on the summer prior and I’m 90% sure that I’m going to start a second draft of that story. I’m worried about how it’s going to play out since my English teacher says that [name_u]November[/name_u] is a busy month for college applications but I’m applying early decision somewhere and the regular decisions aren’t due until [name_u]January[/name_u] 1st, so I’m hoping [name_u]November[/name_u] falls in a sweet spot where it’ll be possible for me. I don’t honestly know how I did it last year, but hopefully I figure that out early on. I bet it’ll be easier since I already have the first draft almost done, but I’m changing a lot of things and I’m not allowing myself to copy and paste anything. Hoping mine and everyone else’s goes well!

I think my username is sparkleninja18 on NaNoWriMo as well, if you wanna follow me!

I’m doing it! I’ve been doing it for a few years now, and I have a few ideas I’m going to try to use. I made it to 50,000 also, although the story wasn’t my best work. I’m going to try to do better this year.

I’ve done Nanowrimo twice, both times I failed, and I haven’t done it in a few years (three to be exact) because [name_u]November[/name_u] just happens to always be the busiest month of the school year. :frowning: [name_m]Even[/name_m] now, I wish I had the time to do it, I just don’t. I usually try to do Camp Nanowrimo in [name_u]July[/name_u] though.

Good luck guys! I wish you the best! (And congrats to those who have won before!)

I did the NaNoWriMo JWP last year. It is for younger people who don’t want to write the whole fifty thousand words. I was going to do the JWP again so i could set my own goal, but i signed up for the regular NaNoWriMo this year. I barely wrote anything last year, and in fact i could probably give you a word count right now. Anyway, i have started planning and even made me a fancy planning document. Okay, its not that fancy, but it works for me.

Also, have any of you started the actual writing before [name_u]November[/name_u]? I feel like i should start now, i think i might lose motivation for it. I have an outline, and now my topics, my title, etc. I just feel like i might lose interest if i don’t start.

I’m going to try to do NaNoWriMo this year, probably going to fail like last year. There’s just no way I can create enough free time to write 300-some words a day. I’m going to try though! Good luck to everyone else doing it!
