Opinions on the girl name [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]???
I already have a daughter named [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m].
Thanks
I think [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] go nice together.
My issue is with [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] is pronounciation. A lot of people pronounce it Nai-OHM-ee when, if you look at the spelling, in my opinion, isn’t correct. I pronounce it either NOW-mee or Nah-OHM-ee because I feel that it’s correct based on spelling. I’m not entirely sure if this is correct, but if I am not, then at least you know other ways that others will pronounce it
Good luck and congratulations!
One of my favourite names! It’s my own middle name actually. Everyone always compliments me when they find out what it is.
The only two pronunciations I’ve ever heard are nay-OH-mee or [name_m]Nye[/name_m]-OH-mee and they’re both fine by me. I usually say it the first way but my husband says it the second way and as far as I’m concerned they’re both great.
I also like that it’s Biblical and has a “pleasant” meaning
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] is sweet! I do find it rather “plain” along with the likes of [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], and [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f] – a purely personal association. My preference is for [name_f]Noemi[/name_f] <3 It’s lovely and works quite well with Elena too.
I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], personally–if I’m being honest, it’s one of my least favorite names, actually–but [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] is nice, I suppose, and there’s nothing intrinsically wrong with [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]. I do love the Spanish [name_f]Noemi[/name_f], though, and I absolutely love [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Noemi[/name_f] (no-ay-mee, if you’re emphasizing it with an American accent, lol. I can’t figure out how to write the pronunciation of the European “e” on paper.) together. [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Noemi[/name_f]. So, so cute!
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] (I say nay-OH-mee; nigh-OH-mee really doesn’t make any sense to me, but I’ve also heard it) is a spunky, unexpected name, though, and seems to be well-loved by a lot of people, though, and there’s nothing wrong with it. I even have a good friend from college with the name, but even she couldn’t sway me, unfortunately!
Good luck!
I love [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]! I also like the suggestion a couple people had of [name_f]Noemi[/name_f]. Either would be lovely with [name_f]Elena[/name_f].
I love it. It’s so pretty and familiar, but rare!
It’s a lovely name. I prn it nay-oh-mee.
A lovely name that goes wonderfully with [name_f]Elena[/name_f], I pronounce it Nay-oh-mee.
I love [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] last week I added it to my favorites list~ Beautiful meaning, easy to spell, familiar yet unused (I’ve never met a [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] in my life)
I prn it [name_m]Nye[/name_m]-oh-mee if that sways your decision in any way.
I have a daughter named [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u], so I personally love, love the name! We say nay-oh-mee. But I also hear ny-oh-mee once in awhile from people. Both pronunciations are beautiful to me. I also like [name_f]Noemi[/name_f] alot too. I think [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] make a beautiful pair for sisters. We have good friends with an [name_f]Elaina[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or we would have definitely considered [name_f]Elena[/name_f] for our youngest daughter. Best of luck!
I’ve heard the meaning of [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] as “pleasant” in Hebrew but also as “gentle beauty” or in Japanese “beautiful honesty”, which is pretty special to us.
I love [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]! It’s sweet and familiar but also uncommon. Killer combo.
Beautiful name! [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] definitely sound like sisters to me! I really like the nicknames that come with it too:
[name_f]Nomi[/name_f]
[name_f]Mimi[/name_f] (so cute)
[name_f]Amy[/name_f]
Nomes
[name_f]Mina[/name_f] (a bit of a stretch but has the letters for it)
Some combos I like for it:
Naomi Belle
Naomi Willow
Naomi Dove
Naomi Josephine
Naomi Cordelia
