Is [name]Narcissa[/name] usable? Or is it just too much?
Reminds me of narcissist. I don’t it’s a good choice.
It’s pretty but the meaning makes it a no. What about [name]Clarissa[/name]?
You know, I actually know someone with this name. She goes by [name]Sissy[/name]. I think the name is pretty and is usable because of that and the actual meaning is “Daffodil” which is lovely, but if the fact that people will associate it with narcissism bothers you, then I would avoid it. Or, use it in the middle!
This is one of my GP names. I love it and think it would be adorable. Popular name [name]Cecilia[/name] has a HORRIBLE meaning and [name]Ophelia[/name], a name I love, is associated with crazy suicidal ladies.
The only time I’ve ever heard this name is [name]Narcissa[/name] Malfoy, from the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] series, and that’s what automatically popped into my head as soon as I read it here. I wouldn’t say it’s not usable, just that it has connotations and a negative meaning.
Ditto this.
Until [name]Narcissa[/name] Malfoy came along, the only [name]Narcissa[/name] of which I’d heard was [name]Narcissa[/name] [name]Whitman[/name], the missionary to [name]North[/name] American Indians with her husband, [name]Marcus[/name]. They were killed by the Indians after a year or two at the mission, blamed for the deaths of several [name]Indian[/name] children for whom they’d helped care (the children really died of some disease.) I’ve always thought the name was beautiful, but I don’t know if it could survive the “narcissist” association and the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] association. Not everyone would enjoy the [name]Narcissa[/name] [name]Whitman[/name] association, either, but it probably isn’t as well known–and some would appreciate it.
Its a pretty name, but I don’t think the Narcissist association would ever be overcome.
