Narrow down from 5! Boys are HARD!

All of these names have SOME sentimental value, an honour my father in some way.

[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] - [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] was his favourite; the whole family will pause to acknowledge my dad when a [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] song comes on. Also, the nn Morri is cute, I think. Also, he wasn’t able to dance at my wedding last summer, but we had PLANNED to dance to [name_f]Tupelo[/name_f] [name_f]Honey[/name_f] by [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Morrison[/name_m]. :frowning:

[name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] - Oddly enough, my dad still had his childhood teddy up to his last day. We always thought it was so funny, but when we saw how much comfort he got having his bear [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] with him while in hospital at the end, we kind of softened and stopped teasing. He truly loved that bear. And frankly, I love that name.

[name_m]Wolf[/name_m] - My dad’s first name was [name_m]William[/name_m], which is also my husband’s name. In my culture, you never name after the living. So [name_m]William[/name_m] is out. My dad’s Hebrew name was Ze’ev, which means wolf. We’re not crazy about [name_m]Zev[/name_m] or Ze’ev cause it’s so popular, but [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] is on our list instead.

[name_m]Rider[/name_m] - My dad was a motorcycle guy, through and through. Two summers ago we did a cross country bike trip with me on the back, and that’s probably my best recent memory of him. My husband and I joke that we can’t very well call our son Chriopracter (that’s what he was), so we settled on [name_m]Rider[/name_m] (cause that’s what he did).

[name_m]Walter[/name_m] - We wanted to throw one generic “W” name in the ring. [name_m]Walter[/name_m] is our pick on account of the nn [name_u]Wally[/name_u]. My dad went by “[name_m]Willy[/name_m]” (never [name_m]Will[/name_m], or [name_m]Bill[/name_m], or [name_m]William[/name_m]) and my husband goes by [name_m]Will[/name_m]. [name_u]Wally[/name_u] and [name_m]Will[/name_m] are different enough, plus [name_m]Walter[/name_m] sounds nice with our last name.

Which is your favourite, and why? Also, please feel free to add suggestions based on the facts given above.

[name_f]TIA[/name_f]!!

I think [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] is the one!

[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] [name_m]Rider[/name_m]
[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m]

Omg that [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] story is so sweet!!! It’s also my favorite name on your list. I vote [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] :).

Oh, it’s so hard when they all have such meaning! With that in mind, [name_m]Walter[/name_m] is my least favorite, simply because it doesn’t have quite the same significance as the others.

Of the rest, I’m torn between [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] … and I also like the idea of [name_u]Van[/name_u] instead of [name_m]Morrison[/name_m].

[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] is my favorite name, but love the special meanings behind [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] and [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m].

I would personally go with [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] or [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m].

My thinking re [name_m]Walter[/name_m], it seems a bit of a stretch. I also think my favourites are [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Lazlo[/name_m] (and I think maybe they seem the strongest / most obvious links to your dad as well?).

[name_m]Walter[/name_m] while I like it (it’s on my list) it doesn’t feel like it has the same sentimental charm to you. So I would say that’s my least favorite for you personally. I like [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] the most since it seems to have the most significance and is cool and different without being out there.

I love the sentiment behind [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m]. I think this would be a wonderful and very endearing way to honor him.

Saw your girl thread too late but thought to suggest [name_m]Liam[/name_m] as middle name if a girl, am sure it wouldn’t be so controversial there!

I think [name_m]Walter[/name_m] or [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] will work.

Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]

[name_m]Wolf[/name_m] and [name_m]Rider[/name_m] are my favorites. [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] comes third.

[name_m]Wolf[/name_m] would give him the W initial and a Hebrew name as well, however you didn’t exactly express your love for the name, it seems. It can also make for a great middle name.

[name_m]Rider[/name_m] seems even more special as it’s also tied to you. Again, however, I wonder if you love the name itself.

[name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] - it isn’t my cup of tea, but you seem to love it. If your hubby loves the name itself as well, this is one of the strongest contenders.

[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] - I’m iffy on this one. On the one hand, it is a sweet connection to something your dad loved and your entire family knows. On the other hand, it is still only the name of the artist…

[name_m]Walter[/name_m] - I agree it is the weakest option, without much of a meaning or story behind it like most of the others.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m]. What a great name and such a sweet way to honor your dad. [name_m]Walter[/name_m] is probably my 2nd favorite followed by [name_m]Morrison[/name_m]. I’ll also throw [name_u]Wallace[/name_u] out there as an option for you as you can still have the nickname [name_u]Wally[/name_u].

[name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] is my favourite combination ” and I think, given the backstory and the reason behind the name [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m], [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] could be an adorable in-family nickname!

If you’re not looking for a combination, I would say [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] is my favourite, especially with the personal reason for choosing it.

Good luck!!

I wanted to join the [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] train! The meaning behind both are so sweet!

These all have such lovely meanings and are great honour names for your father

[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] is my favourite.

It might be the Hungarian in me, but [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] is by far my favorite of those. [name_u]Unique[/name_u], but not made-up. The best kind of name.

[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] is my favorite. I love [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] [name_m]Wolf[/name_m].

[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] is actually something I have considered myself, I think that and [name_m]Walter[/name_m] are the best contenders  It’s sweet that you are honoring your father!

[name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] is my favorite!

[name_f]Susan[/name_f]

[name_m]Walter[/name_m] and [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] are my favorites! I also kinda like [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_m]Wolf[/name_m], with “[name_u]Wally[/name_u] [name_m]Wolf[/name_m]” as a nickname.
