Not too much changed for the boys list, but I did change around some of the girls names. Still coming up with girl’s combos. I think my boys list is very solid. I’ve loved these names for a while and always seem to come back to them. I also feel really good about the combos I listed. Thoughts?

Original lists:
[name]Cecelia[/name]/[name]Cecily[/name], [name]Emilia[/name] (nn [name]Emme[/name]), [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Nora[/name]/[name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Sophie[/name]
Possible mn’s: [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Faye[/name], [name]Freya[/name], [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Thea[/name]
Under consideration: [name]Sosie[/name], [name]Callista[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Georgiana[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], and [name]Cleo[/name]/[name]Clio[/name].

[name]Asher[/name], [name]Dashiell[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Nolan[/name], [name]Theodore[/name]
Possible mn’s: [name]August[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Laurence[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Rhys[/name]
Under consideration: [name]Everett[/name], [name]Miles[/name], [name]Noah[/name], and [name]Oliver[/name].

You’ve got great lists here! Keeping in mind that you have an [name]Arabella[/name] and a [name]Jude[/name], these are my thoughts:

[name]Cecelia[/name]/[name]Cecily[/name] - with [name]Arabella[/name], I think [name]Cecily[/name] goes perfectly. I love [name]Cecelia[/name] as well, but I’m just thinking, avoid another 4 syllable, ends in “a” name.
[name]Emilia[/name] (nn [name]Emme[/name]) - More common ([name]Amelia[/name] spelling is getting quite popular, plus [name]Emme[/name]/[name]Emmy[/name] gets a lot of use via [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Emily[/name]) than your other kids names, but still quite pretty. I’m a huge fan of [name]Emme[/name]. You could go with [name]Emiliana[/name] which is less common, but definitely frillier. [name]Emmeline[/name] would also work fabulously.
[name]Juliet[/name] - too close to [name]Jude[/name], I think. So pretty though!
[name]Nora[/name]/[name]Eleanor[/name] - I like [name]Eleanor[/name]. It’s pretty but serious, definitely different in feel than [name]Arabella[/name]. [name]Eleanora[/name] would match more style wise, but I think I prefer more studious-sounding [name]Eleanor[/name]. [name]Nora[/name] is a sweet nickname, though my favorite is [name]Leni[/name]!
[name]Sophie[/name] - cute but very, very popular (when combined with [name]Sophia[/name]). I prefer the less common names on your list next to your other names.

Possible mn’s: [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Faye[/name], [name]Freya[/name], [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Thea[/name] - [name]Love[/name] all of these. [name]Favorite[/name] combos: [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Freya[/name], [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Faye[/name] or [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Hermione[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Thea[/name].

Under consideration: [name]Sosie[/name], [name]Callista[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Georgiana[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], and [name]Cleo[/name]/[name]Clio[/name] - Not so into [name]Sosie[/name] (too tied to a celeb for me) or [name]Eva[/name] (getting popular), but love all the rest. [name]Cleo[/name] is the only one I don’t see as much with your set. [name]Callista[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name], definitely. [name]Georgiana[/name] too, but it has pronunciation issues that I tend to like to avoid. [name]Georgina[/name] is preferable, IMHO.

[name]Asher[/name] - love love love.
[name]Dashiell[/name] - I actually think [name]Dashiell[/name] Gambit is pretty cool! [name]Jude[/name] with a brother named [name]Dash[/name]/[name]Dashiell[/name]? Brilliant!
[name]Elliot[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Elliot[/name]. Feels a little bland next to [name]Jude[/name] and [name]Arabella[/name] though.
[name]Nolan[/name] - Same with [name]Elliot[/name].
[name]Theodore[/name] - One of my favorites. It would go nicely in your set.

Possible mn’s: [name]August[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Laurence[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Rhys[/name] - [name]Favorite[/name] combos: [name]Asher[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Everett[/name] / [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]August[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Rhys[/name].

Under consideration: [name]Everett[/name], [name]Miles[/name], [name]Noah[/name], and [name]Oliver[/name]- [name]Noah[/name] is super popular, so I’d steer clear of it unless you really love it. [name]Oliver[/name]'s on the rise, but would go nicely. Same with [name]Miles[/name]. [name]Everett[/name]'s definitely one I’d keep around, but it’s a favorite of mine, so I’m biased.

[name]Hope[/name] that helps! Sorry it was super long

I adore your kids’ names!

I like all of your girls’ names, but my favourite is [name]Eleanor[/name], with [name]Nora[/name] as her nickname. [name]Cecily[/name] and [name]Cecilia[/name] are both lovely, and [name]Emilia[/name] is very pretty, but in danger of being lost amongst all of the little Emilys and Emmas. [name]Juliet[/name] is gorgeous, but a bit too close to [name]Jude[/name], in my opinion. I like [name]Sophie[/name], but it’s significantly more popular than [name]Arabella[/name] or [name]Jude[/name] and again, there are just SO many Sophias out there for her to be confused with.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Freya[/name] and [name]Hermione[/name] - are these definitely out for first names?
[name]Beatrix[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] are also incredibly lovely and would be great with [name]Arabella[/name] and [name]Jude[/name]. [name]Cleo[/name] would be stunning as a nickname for [name]Clementine[/name] - [name]Jude[/name], [name]Arabella[/name] & [name]Clementine[/name]! Gorgeous!
I’m not keen on [name]Sosie[/name]. It seems insubstantial, too similar to [name]Sophie[/name], and I realise it is somewhat legitimate, but it could be mistaken for a made up name. [name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Sosie[/name] could work though.

[name]Asher[/name] and [name]Nolan[/name] are both quite trendy, and while I don’t mind [name]Asher[/name], I don’t understand [name]Nolan[/name]'s appeal - to me, it lacks the charm of [name]Jude[/name], [name]Dashiell[/name] or [name]Theodore[/name], which I see as handsome, intelligent and spunky. Yep, I adore [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Dashiell[/name]! They’re great with [name]Arabella[/name] and [name]Jude[/name], and [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Dash[/name] make very dashing nicknames too :). I like [name]Elliot[/name] also, but it’s nothing on [name]Theodore[/name] or [name]Dashiell[/name], and if you call [name]Arabella[/name] ‘[name]Bella[/name]’, having an [name]Ell[/name]- sibling might be confusing. I feel the same way about [name]Noah[/name] as I do about [name]Asher[/name] - nice enough, but a bit too trendy. [name]Miles[/name] is handsome (although I prefer [name]Milo[/name]), as are [name]Everett[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] - I like them as much as I like [name]Elliot[/name].
[name]August[/name] and [name]Nathaniel[/name] I like too!

What a great list. Good luck!

To both of you, thanks for the compliments! I’ve been trying to hone in my lists to a select a few to keep around for any future lists. Ideally, these names won’t actually be used for another couple of years as [name]Jude[/name] isn’t even 6 months yet! However, I love to plan ahead, as well as keeping my lists updated.

@freckles:
I’m finding more people prefer [name]Cecily[/name] in the set than [name]Cecelia[/name], but I don’t think I ever got a reason. I hadn’t thought of the 4 syllable thing before. I think I’ve always said it Ce-seal-ya, but I see where Ce-seal-i-a and [name]Arabella[/name] could be a problem. Also, I think you’ve given me sufficient reason to bump [name]Emilia[/name]. [name]Emme[/name] is going to be a popular nn now, isn’t it? I already made that mistake with [name]Bella[/name] ;). I hadn’t paired [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Freya[/name] or [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Faye[/name] before, but seeing them together, I love it! [name]Sosie[/name] is very new to me, so there’s no guarantees on that name. You gave me good reason already to nix [name]Eva[/name] (also, a friends daughter is [name]Evelyn[/name]). I’m thinking about adding [name]Callista[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] to the top 5 now.

The whole story with [name]Dashiell[/name] Gambit is that my dh said he’d let me use whatever first name I wanted if we used Gambit as a mn (he got that excited about a comic book character and his badassness :D). Now, he’s doomed, because I’m going to hold him to it! Otherwise, I really love [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Everett[/name]! I also love [name]Asher[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Rhys[/name]. Funny enough, I’m pretty sure I prefer those three to [name]Nolan[/name]. I still love [name]Elliot[/name], though I understand what you mean by it being a bit more ordinary next to [name]Arabella[/name] and [name]Jude[/name]. I also agree about [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name]. I think [name]Nolan[/name] is my backwards way of trying to get the feel of [name]Noah[/name] in a less popular name and it just isn’t working.

@araminta:
I’m really starting to truly fall in love with [name]Eleanor[/name] b/c I can call her [name]Nora[/name]. I’ve always loved [name]Nora[/name] but felt it was too short for me to choose it as a first name alone. Like freckles, you hit on the reason that I think [name]Emilia[/name] is going to be off the list, as well as [name]Juliet[/name]. I’ve always loved [name]Sophie[/name] but hate that it’s so popular! It may have to become an option for a mn. As for [name]Freya[/name] and [name]Hermione[/name], they are definitely up for moving to my fn list. Most of my hesitation is my dh opinion. But I got him to agree to [name]Arabella[/name] and [name]Jude[/name] and he’s changed his mind about both of those names, so who knows! I also really like the suggestion of [name]Clementine[/name] as opposed to [name]Cleo[/name]! I’ll have to add that.

I’m glad you also like [name]Dashiell[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] so much! Those really are my top 2, I think. Would it make a difference if it was [name]Elliot[/name], nn [name]Eli[/name], or is [name]Eli[/name] still a little too close to [name]Bella[/name]? We do call her [name]Bella[/name] or [name]Belle[/name].

Thank you ladies for the wonderful ideas and comments!

If you like [name]Eli[/name] (which I prn like ee-lye), I would drop [name]Elliot[/name] and go with [name]Eli[/name] in full. [name]Jude[/name] and [name]Eli[/name] would make a wonderful set of brothers! My favorite girls’ names with your kiddos are [name]Cecily[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], and [name]Clementine[/name], with [name]Callista[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] close seconds. [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Dashiell[/name], [name]Everett[/name] are my favorite boys’ names, with [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Eli[/name] just behind those three. [name]Lovely[/name] choices! Good luck!

Thanks for the input Katybug! My husband actually said the same thing about [name]Eli[/name]. That is a very probable option for us. I think that might be his favorite of the names I like. And I also would pronounce it ee-lye. I can’t imagine it any other way. With that pronunciation, [name]Eli[/name] and [name]Bella[/name], I think sound very different. I suppose that answers my own question. Ha! Again, thanks for the input!

Update bump!

I love [name]Callista[/name]!! [name]Callista[/name] [name]Sophie[/name], maybe? Or [name]Callista[/name] [name]Alice[/name]? Otherwise I also love the other girl names you mentioned except for [name]Clio[/name]/[name]Cleo[/name], which doesn’t seem all that attractive, nor does it especially fit your current children. Top three: [name]Callista[/name], [name]Emilia[/name], [name]Cecelia[/name]/[name]Cecily[/name]. [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Faye[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name] always make for perfect middle names. [name]Juliet[/name] is too close to [name]Jude[/name] to be used as a first name. I like [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Alice[/name], [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Faye[/name], and [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Freya[/name].

I love your boy names, too, but [name]Dashiell[/name], [name]Everett[/name] and [name]Miles[/name] are my top three.

Yeah, cristinamariane, the reasons you said [name]Cleo[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] don’t really fit are exactly the reasons I took them off the updated list. I’m really loving [name]Callista[/name] more and more. I think [name]Cecelia[/name] is my absolute favorite, but its hard to even think about narrowing it down to one. Good thing I wont need these names for a couple years! I love getting more combo input, too. Thank you!

My favourites would have to be:
[name]Arabella[/name], [name]Jude[/name] & [name]Hermione[/name] [name]Freya[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name], [name]Jude[/name] & [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name], [name]Jude[/name] & [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Faye[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name], [name]Jude[/name] & [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Hermione[/name] nn [name]Nora[/name]

With [name]Arabella[/name] & [name]Jude[/name], [name]Hermione[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name] are my absolute favourites. It may be a little obsessive compulsive, but I love how the 3 kids would all have complimentary but individually very distinctive names - no repeated initials, different endings, etc. For that same reason I don’t love [name]Asher[/name] with [name]Arabella[/name].
[name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Dashiell[/name] remain my favourite of your boys’ names by a mile! [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Dashiell[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Everett[/name] I love!
I’m going to keep pushing (gently) for [name]Eleanor[/name] nn [name]Nora[/name] over [name]Nora[/name] alone.
And in case you’re looking for a nickname for [name]Hermione[/name], can I suggest [name]Io[/name]? I love it! I’ve also heard [name]Minnie[/name] used.

Has your DH thought about the names [name]Remy[/name] or [name]Beau[/name] to honor the Gambit character instead of “Gambit”? I just think those names sound a little better with [name]Dashiell[/name] Although my favorites off your list are [name]Asher[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Rhys[/name]!

@araminta: I really, really love [name]Nora[/name], but I am also keen on nn’s. I keep going back and forth about giving a fuller name vs. a shortened version, but there’s just so much to love about [name]Eleanor[/name] that its slowly winning me over. I also like [name]Clementine[/name], but there is something holding me back from really accepting it. I can’t quite pinpoint what that is either… [name]Love[/name] [name]Hermione[/name], but not as much with [name]Io[/name]. I think [name]Bella[/name] is such a feminine nn that [name]Io[/name] doesn’t feel quite righ. I do love [name]Minnie[/name], though! I also like the idea of the kids all having different first initials and that has been one of my reservations about [name]Asher[/name]. I also like that they would have different ending sounds. I hadn’t really thought of that before. As for the boys, I really love all of those [name]Theodore[/name] combinations and [name]Dashiell[/name] is still right up there at my top spot, I think.

@rmm3210: The whole Gambit thing came up so randomly, I’m not sure how he feels about [name]Remy[/name]. However, his little proposition has given me a great reason to hold onto [name]Dashiell[/name]. Also, where he has hated it before, the more we talk about it, the more he’s coming around. I think that by the time we would actually use it, he might really like it! Then we can talk about a different mn! I really like [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Everett[/name]!
