I made a post a week or so ago asking for help on naming our baby boy coming in September! We finally decided on two names that we love. We are having a hard time deciding which name to go with & sometimes we wish we were having twins so we could use both!
If we have one, we will probably use whichever name we donât use this time for our next son. But, we know we may never have another son, so we not only want to choose which name we think would be best for the oldest, we also want to be okay if he ends up being our only boy.
Why we love it: James was always on our list. We just keep going back to this name. It feels classic but timeless, cute but handsome. Our main hesitations were 1) the popularity & 2) the nicknames Jim or Jimmy. But weâve decided we donât care about those things because James is just a great name! Brandon is my husbands first name that I want to use as a middle name. We also think it gives him a nickname option (JB) to use instead of Jim if he wants!
We we love this name: Luke is such a good name, & we think âLuke Dahlâ sounds great even though itâs two short names. August is a family name on my husbandâs side (his grandpaâs middle name), & we think Luke August sounds way better than Luke Brandon, although James August does sound great too.
Hopefully this all makes sense! What do you guys think?!
[name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]August[/name_m] is absolutely beautiful. Thatâs my personal fave! (Your last name is so cool and these combos are both greatâcanât go wrong!)
[name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]August[/name_m] is my personal favorite, but it sounds like [name_m]James[/name_m] has your heart. Theyâre both great, so you canât go wrong either way!
I really like [name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]August[/name_m]. I just like the flow of it, and it just sounds suave. Also sounds cool with your last name. LAD is a very cute set of initials for a baby boy.
I like [name_m]James[/name_m] [name_m]Brandon[/name_m], but not as much as above!! That said, [name_m]James[/name_m] can also be âJamieâ or âJesseâ as an alternative to Jim/Jimmy.
We love that too! We just donât know what to do if we have another son, because we love [name_m]Luke[/name_m], but we donât love [name_m]Luke[/name_m] BrandonâŚ
James Brandon - think James flows better to Dahl, itâs a smooth, handsome name - though if you want a more pluckish nane, Luke Dahl is very cute (it just somehow sounds also like a type of Indian dahl to me).
Edit: I also like Luke Brandon - I think it flows better than Luke August.
It sounds like youâre really drawn to [name_m]James[/name_m], so Iâd go for [name_m]James[/name_m] if thatâs true. You canât go wrong with either one theyâre both lovely.
Theyâre both handsome, classic, strong names. Keep in mind your taste can really change in between pregnancies, even ones that are close together so you may not even like [name_m]Luke[/name_m] next timeâŚJames is beautiful. It was my #1 boy name even though i like unique names. Didnât care about Jamesâ popularity because i didnât blame other parents for liking it too, itâs gorgeous. Naming your son after his dad is special too
Both great options! I can see why youâre having a hard time choosing. I love [name_m]James[/name_m] [name_m]Brandon[/name_m]!
I think it flows really nicely and seems to be a favorite for you guys. I love the name [name_m]James[/name_m] even though I donât tend to like more popular names. I have a close friend named [name_m]James[/name_m] and heâs never had any trouble with people giving him nicknames like [name_m]Jim[/name_m]. They always just say [name_m]James[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] son has a name thatâs easily shortened and if people use a nickname I just say âoh we call him (his full name)â and no ones ever been confused or used an unwanted nickname. So I think [name_m]James[/name_m] really checks all the boxes for you guys!
I love [name_m]James[/name_m] [name_m]Brandon[/name_m] for you! And I know an 8-year-old [name_m]James[/name_m] whoâs never called [name_m]Jim[/name_m] or [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] - I wouldnât worry about that at all.
