Athena
Olivia
Vanessa
What do you think of these 3? They all hold a dear spot in my heart. What do you think when you hear or see these names?
I already know how popular Olivia is. It’s a name I just can’t shake no matter how hard I try. My oldest daughter just finished 1st grade and she only had 3 Olivia’s in her entire school. Olivia is a family name on my dhs side. His grandpa and great grandpa were Noah Oliver and his great great grandpa was Oliver.
Also, which would you pair with big sisters Miranda, Marina, Cassandra, and Alexandra?
Probably [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], but I also really like [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f]. [name_f]Athena[/name_f] I just can’t get into.
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is so beautiful! It’s popular for a reason, after all
[name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] is sweet, if a little dated, but I love the nickname Ness. [name_f]Athena[/name_f] isn’t for me, but I do see the appeal. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] overall
I LOVE [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f]!
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is fine. I’ve known a ton so I’m very unexcited by it but it has nice nicknames.
I want to like [name_f]Athena[/name_f] but I have a negative personal association that makes it hard for me to have an objective opinion.
For me the shining gem is [name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] is elegant, impactful, bold and has wonderful mythological references. She’s unexpected with a modern feel whilst being so established within history. I think [name_f]Athena[/name_f] is gorgeous!
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] is stunning - strong, classical, beautiful, with an amazing mythology connection!
I also absolutely adore [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f], which I think is such an under-used jewel, with a gorgeously gentle, elegant sound!
(As for [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], I’m sure I’m in a minority, but it’s never enchanted me - it just sounds too much like “olives”, plus it’s so ubiquitous now… However, I do like the link to classic film actress [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] De Havilland!)
These are all such beautiful names to choose from!!! I personally love all of them, but I think my favorites are [name_f]Athena[/name_f] and [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f]. [name_f]Athena[/name_f] is so beautiful, ethereal, & empowering, and [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] is gorgeous, elegant, & enchanting. I think both are beautiful, whimsical unique / underused options, and I wish they were used more!! I also love [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and think it’s adorable!!
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] - sleek, bright, floral and wise
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] - nice enough, but a bit bland
[name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] - pink and purple in vibes, sort of warm and fluffy?
[name_f]Vanessa[/name_f]. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is soo popular so just no. [name_f]Athena[/name_f] is gorgeous
[name_f]My[/name_f] fave is [name_f]Athena[/name_f]!
I usually can’t pull the plug on these 3 for some reason. If we ever have a 5th daughter I hope one of these I can say yes to lol.
Thank you! I love them all

[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is a family name on my dhs side. His grandpa and great grandpa were [name_u]Noah[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and his great great grandpa was [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. So when I found that out I loved it even more, but he’s unthrilled by it.
I actually met a lady named [name_f]Athena[/name_f] for the first time this past winter. She was really nice. I only know one person who named their daughter [name_f]Athena[/name_f] and my oldest daughters school has 2 Athena’s in the whole school. So I feel like if I were pregnant that could be a sign to use it. Also, one of my best friends as a kid middle name is Atheena spelled this way.
[name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] I have started to love in the past 5 years or so. It’s so pretty and some websites has the meaning as butterfly. It would make an excellent spring baby name that’s for sure.
So if we ever have a 5th I feel like it’s going to be even harder for me to decide. Especially when we have 2 Ms, a C, and an A so if we go with another A name we’re going to make C be by herself. So it would be a lot to think about. Plus trying to get my dhs approval for one of them lol.

I love [name_f]Athena[/name_f], but both times I went to consider it either my dh wasn’t a fan or it just felt too heavy and I wasn’t gutsy enough to use it.

Thank you! I’ve loved Greek Mythology since I was introduced to [name_m]Hercules[/name_m]. When I was naming my 3rd daughter back in 2020 Nameberry had [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] written out as olive branches were a symbol of [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] [name_f]Athena[/name_f] and part of mythology by maidens wearing olive branches as crowns for their wedding and it made me obsessed with the name [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. I still absolutely love the name, but I usually can never get past the popularity of it. So I guess if we ever have a 5th girl because I feel like we’re going to have a 5th child these are 3 names I’ll be considering.
Thank you

Great choices, all go great with big sisters. I would choose [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and not worry about popularity. It’s a family name and close to your heart. [name_f]My[/name_f] second choice would be [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] - love the nn [name_u]Van[/name_u].
Ooh, that’s lovely, actually! I can definitely see the appeal of the association with [name_f]Athena[/name_f] & olive branches - thanks for sharing that info!
Yeah, I had the hardest time letting go of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], but my dh has never cared for the name unfortunately. He worked with an [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] so he didn’t want to use it. We just recently got a male dog and named him [name_u]Solaris[/name_u] so maybe #5 will finally be a boy lol.
Thank you! I love all 3 of them. We just recently got a new dog that is a boy and named him [name_u]Solaris[/name_u]. So we’d probably finally have a boy after 4 girls
