Narrowing down

We are TTC, and we have a pretty good short list for boys, but cannot seem to narrow down girls at all! I feel like there are so many names I’ll be sad not to get to use. Thoughts, opinions, or even combos would be helpful in helping us narrow down our girl list. Thanks!

[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Annalise[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] (my grandmother’s name)
[name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Esme[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Odette[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Romilly[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]

I love a lot of these, this is going to be tough! Everything with a ** I would keep

**[name]Annabel[/name] - I love [name]Annabel[/name], it is so sweet and cute
[name]Annalise[/name] - I like it but as far as [name]Anna[/name] names go I have there are a lot better
[name]Blythe[/name] - It just seems a little unsubstantial to me, better as an MN
**[name]Clara[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Clara[/name]! It is just perfect
[name]Corinne[/name] - cute and sweet!
**[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Love[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] and all the possible NNs
[name]Esme[/name] - I just cannot stand this name sorry :frowning: I cannot see outside of Kindergarten but that is just me
**[name]Josephine[/name]- I love this one but on my own list it always goes to the middle spot
**[name]Juliet[/name] - see [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name] - I prefer just [name]Laura[/name] or [name]Lauren[/name] but still very pretty
[name]Louisa[/name] - I like it a lot
[name]Maeve[/name] - cute but better as a MN
[name]Odette[/name] - Eh you have better on here
**[name]Pearl[/name] - I would [name]LOVE[/name] to meet a [name]Pearl[/name]
**[name]Penelope[/name] - So sweet and adorable!!
[name]Romilly[/name] - lovely name
[name]Sylvie[/name] - I like it a lot
[name]Willa[/name] - I used to love it but now I prefer [name]Willow[/name]

From your list, I like:

[name]Annabel[/name] - so underused and refreshing!
[name]Clara[/name] - even if this gets cut as a first name, I would definitely leave it in the running for a middle due to the family connection.
[name]Eleanor[/name] - I love the sound, but its very popular in our area and that would be an issue for me.
[name]Louisa[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name].

[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Louisa[/name] is gorgeous!

Congrats to you! I will give all my opinions but first I just want to say that I love [name]Clara[/name] the absoulte most for you. It is great that it honors your grandmother and therefore feels like it has the most significance of any on your list. Plus it has the potential for making many meaningful connections to some of your other names, in case of future children. The possibility of one day having [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Odette[/name] as sisters makes my heart want to leap with adorable ballet joy! Haha. I hope this is helpful to you. =]

[name]Annabel[/name]- Has a great meaning, but not my favorite. It seems a bit boring compared to your others. And nn’s [name]Anna[/name] or [name]Belle[/name] aren’t unique
[name]Blythe[/name]- I really love this name, especially for the meaning. It has such a feminine feel to me, but is definitely not too “girly” sounding
[name]Clara[/name]- As I already mentioned, I think this is the best choice for you. A sibset of [name]Clara/name and [name]Blythe/name would be perfection
[name]Corinne[/name]- You seem to like French names and this one really feels like it would be the best choice popularity-wise (aka it’s more unique)
[name]Esme[/name]- Has a very original and “sparkly” sound to me, but unfortunately is still somewhat tied to the Twilight series for most people
[name]Josephine[/name]- Sounds very frilly but it does have the fortunate ‘[name]Little[/name] Women’ reference and the possible tomboyish nn’s [name]Jo[/name], [name]Joe[/name], or [name]Finn[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name]- This is very pretty and romantic, but throughout her entire life she will surely tire of hearing people say “[name]Romeo[/name], [name]Romeo[/name]…”
[name]Laurel[/name]- Cute, and “naturey” but seems a bit out of place with your other favorites and I can only see it ever working paired with [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]- This has been growing on me lately, but it would be a better story if you were trying to honor someone named [name]Louis[/name]
[name]Odette[/name]- I obviously adore this due to Swan [name]Lake[/name], but the meaning isn’t so wonderful. If that bothers you, pick another French name
[name]Pearl[/name]- I really do like this. It has sort of an old-fashioned glamourous feeling, but with 1 syllable might work better as a middle name
[name]Romilly[/name]- Another newer favorite of mine, but the pro’s for this name are essentially based upon the way it sounds, unless you’re Italian
[name]Sylvie[/name]- [name]One[/name] of your more ‘cutesy’ French name choices, but I actually really adore this version (compared to [name]Sylvia[/name]) and the meaning

I don’t like [name]Annalise[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], or [name]Willa[/name] for sound/bad association reasons, so I won’t bother you by commenting on them.

For first names I love [name]Odette[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name], [name]Blythe[/name], [name]Willa[/name], and [name]Laurel[/name]. [name]Odette[/name] is my favorite.

I like the name [name]Clara[/name] but I think it would be better used as a middle name. Same with [name]Louisa[/name] and [name]Pearl[/name] (I know three people who have incorporated the name [name]Pearl[/name] into their baby’s name, whether it’s FN or MN… Same goes for [name]Maeve[/name].)

Not so into [name]Romilly[/name], [name]Esme[/name], [name]Corinne[/name], [name]Annabel[/name], and [name]Eleanor[/name] (I actually love [name]Eleanor[/name] but it’s so over used.)

What I like:
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Annalise[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Romilly[/name] (though this feels a little out of place with your other choices)

What I don’t care for:
[name]Corinne[/name] - I just really dislike the sound of this one.
[name]Esme[/name] - Like the sound of this one, but it seems to be popular in the wrong crowds where I live
[name]Juliet[/name] - Never cared for this name. I do not think the Shakespearean character is worthwhile namesake
[name]Odette[/name] - Not very feminine or pretty to me. Reminds me of “odd” and the French word “bete”
[name]Penelope[/name] - I really dislike the sound and look of this name. Too sugary.
[name]Sylvie[/name] - Reminds me of [name]Sylvia[/name] Plath, which is a tragic connection
[name]Willa[/name] - In my southern neighborhood this just sounds like a mispronunciation of [name]Willow[/name]

Combinations:
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]

I love [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Annalise[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name]. All are pretty with great nickname options, both girly and grown up.
I also love [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Pearl[/name] but only as middle names.
The only ones on your list that I don’t like are [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Odette[/name].

Here are some combos taken from your list of names.

[name]Esme[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Willa[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Odette[/name]
