Our baby girl is due to arrive in [name_u]March[/name_u] 2017. My husband and I seem to have pretty different tastes but we’ve narrowed it down to a 5 top options for the first name. Our last name is an Irish “McG,” three syllables. The middle will probably be either [name_f]Helen[/name_f] (for my grandmother) or something short/sweet like [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f], or [name_f]Claire[/name_f]/[name_u]Clare[/name_u]. The top contenders are:
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] (husband’s current fave, I am just concerned about the growing popularity and potential for mispronunciation)
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] (my current fave, husband is unsure)
[name_f]Lilly[/name_f]/[name_f]Lily[/name_f] (this is also an honorific for my grandmother whose middle name was [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] - my husband likes the double “L” spelling, while I prefer the single. Oddly he has rejected “[name_f]Lila[/name_f]” even though he likes “[name_f]Isla[/name_f]”)
Would love some feedback, or even other suggestions? Names that have been crossed of the list for some reason or another are [name_f]Tess[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
All of these are cute names. I’m a big fan personally of [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. I don’t think you have to worry about the mispronunciation since it is growing in popularity.
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is really just so adorable, and has my vote!!
If popularity weren’t a factor, I’d choose [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. Otherwise, I like [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] would be good combos
I like the middle three. [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is a little frilly for my tastes. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is very popular (as well as [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]) so I would steer away from that unless you are OK with popular names. I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is very pretty, and while trendy, I still like it. [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] has kind of an old lady feel, but I think it would be really cute on a little girl. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is on my list too, but I can’t decide whether it’s too snooty.
Other suggestions are [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Ida[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Leila[/name_f], [name_f]Liana[/name_f], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Reina[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], Caroline, Noelle
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] is my favourite from your list.
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] are too common for my taste. I don’t like [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] or [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] very much.
Some suggestions: [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Annalise[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f].
Personally like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] best. I understand the concern about mispronunciation/misspelling, etc. However, if it’s growing in popularity, that aspect may be in your favor re:mispronunciation as more people grow accustomed with the name & less likely to mispronounce it.
I also liked a pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. I think it would be a good compromise for the names you’ve put forth and seems to fit your style.
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] is my #1 favorite, but if you’re unsure about it, other options are [name_f]Ayla[/name_f], [name_u]Isa[/name_u], [name_f]Kyla[/name_f], and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. As far as other [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] options for your husband, I would suggest [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]/[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f], [name_f]Ginger[/name_f], and [name_f]Giana[/name_f]. There are also other, less common names you can get [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as a nickname from, like [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Liana[/name_f], and [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]. Best of luck!
