Narrowing name list for summer baby!

My husband and I are having a hard time narrowing our list. I love Willlow for a girl and [name]Oliver[/name] for a boy, but I don’t want to get too set on anything and not consider anything else! Middle names are family names. Last name is Reep which sounds very harsh with lots of names! So basically R names, one syllable names, and names ending with “-ry” are out. Suggestions welcome!

Girls:
[name]Willow[/name] [name]Alison[/name]
[name]Piper[/name] [name]Alison[/name] ([name]Piper[/name] Reep sounds kind of harsh but we love the name…)
[name]Daphne[/name] [name]Alison[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Colleen[/name] (have a relative named [name]Mathilde[/name]…too close?)
[name]Amelie[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Celia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] (honors both my grandmothers)
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] (honors his and my grandmother but unsure on [name]Julia[/name])
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] (kind of a mouthful and not a huge fan of nn…but open too it. Husband wants to call her [name]Cordie[/name] which I hate! I like [name]Delia[/name] or [name]Corie[/name])
[name]Winter[/name] [name]Alison[/name] (not 100% on [name]Winter[/name] but husband likes it. Also this will be a summer baby so not fitting?)
[name]Primrose[/name] [name]Alison[/name] (Prim - but again with the nn thing)

Boys:
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name]
[name]Eliot[/name] [name]Frank[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name]
[name]August[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name] (husband doesn’t like but I can’t give it up!)
[name]Aren[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name]
[name]Parker[/name] [name]William[/name] (unsure on surnames)
[name]Sawyer[/name] [name]William[/name] (same)
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name] (a little hesitant because it is my aunt’s married name)

I also [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Esther[/name], [name]Elowen[/name] but husband will not go for it…I prefer old names while he likes contemporary…

I think as a rule you might want to eliminate names that end in R–[name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Parker[/name], [name]Piper[/name], etc. because of the surname. If you’re unsure about using family names, cut them out.

From your list I like
[name]Willow[/name] [name]Alison[/name] (although initials WAR?)
[name]Celia[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]August[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name]
[name]Eliot[/name] [name]Frank[/name]

[name]Primrose[/name] works better in books, and a summer baby named [name]Winter[/name] seems like a joke with no punchline. [name]Lucas[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name] doesn’t sound right, and [name]Aren[/name] has an unconventional spelling. I actually hate the name [name]Kenneth[/name] but since it appears often in your list, am I right to assume it’s a family name you want to honor?

I think you might also want to think about other things to tease out the style differences–common or uncommon? Artistic or brainy? Novel cover or Supreme [name]Court[/name] [name]Justice[/name]?

[name]Willow[/name] [name]Alison[/name] sounds perfect to me! [name]Celia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is my second favourite.

The r in [name]Piper[/name] is too much for me, and if you hate the nn [name]Cordie[/name] for [name]Cordelia[/name] I wouldn’t use it if your husband likes if so much.

[name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Lucas[/name] are my favourite boy suggestions!

My favorite girls names for your are [name]Willow[/name], [name]Daphne[/name], and [name]Cordelia[/name]. For boys, my favorites for you are [name]Eliot[/name] and [name]August[/name]. The “r” in [name]Piper[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], and others throws me off because of your surname.

My favorite girl name from your list is [name]Cordelia[/name] and my favorite boy name from your list is [name]Elliot[/name].

I dislike names ending in -er with the surname, to be honest. I’d eliminate all, even if they’re fine names.

Girls -
[name]Willow[/name] [name]Alison[/name] - I like [name]Willow[/name] a lot, but [name]Alison[/name] is nms. As a family name it’s sweet, it’s just rather trendy where I live and I’ve always thought it was harsh sounding.

[name]Piper[/name] [name]Alison[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t like [name]Piper[/name] with the surname, it doesn’t flow at all.

[name]Daphne[/name] [name]Alison[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Daphne[/name]! Very pretty.

[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Colleen[/name] - Yes, [name]Matilda[/name] is awfully close to [name]Mathilde[/name]. If that doesn’t bother you, then it’s gorgeous. This is my favorite of your girls names.

[name]Amelie[/name] [name]Mae[/name] - I like the way it looks with the accent marks - Amélie [name]Mae[/name]. But depending on where you live, that’s probably more trouble then it’s worth. [name]Amelie[/name]'s pretty, but [name]Mae[/name] is a little to filler for me, but since it’s a family name, it’s got meaning and is very sweet.

[name]Celia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Celia[/name], and it’s not often heard.

[name]Julia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] - I really like [name]Julia[/name]. It sounds sophisticated, feminine and classy.

[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] - You’re right, [name]Cordie[/name] is horrible. [name]Cordelia[/name] nn [name]Delia[/name] is lovely.

[name]Winter[/name] [name]Alison[/name] - I do think it’s weird for her to be born in the summer and have the name [name]Winter[/name]… it just doesn’t fit (even though I did have [name]Winter[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name] on my favorites list for quite some time).

[name]Primrose[/name] [name]Alison[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Primrose[/name].

Boys -
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name] - I like this a lot, but the “r” in [name]Oliver[/name] is too much for me ith your surname.

[name]Eliot[/name] [name]Frank[/name] - I prefer the [name]Elliott[/name] spelling personally, but it’s nice either way. [name]Frank[/name] makes a nice mn.

[name]Lucas[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name] - The “K/C” sound of both names is too much for me… it sounds clunky.

[name]August[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name] - I’m not a huge fan of [name]August[/name], but it’s alright.

[name]Aren[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t like [name]Aren[/name].

[name]Parker[/name] [name]William[/name] - Not a fan of [name]Parker[/name] with the surname (but I do love the name).

[name]Sawyer[/name] [name]William[/name] - Not a fan of [name]Sawyer[/name] by it’s self or with the surname.

[name]Owen[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Owen[/name]!

With your last name I would stay away from fn that end in r. So I would eliminate [name]Piper[/name], [name]Winter[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Parker[/name], and [name]Sawyer[/name].
For girls I love [name]Willow[/name], [name]Daphne[/name], and [name]Cordelia[/name]. I love [name]Eliot[/name], [name]Lucas[/name], and [name]August[/name] for boys.
Suggestions
[name]Willow[/name] [name]Colleen[/name] or [name]Willow[/name] [name]Mae[/name] ([name]Willow[/name] [name]Allison[/name] I dislike because of the initials WAR)
[name]Daphne[/name] [name]Alison[/name] or [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Eliot[/name] [name]William[/name]
[name]August[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name] or [name]August[/name] [name]William[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name] [name]William[/name] or [name]Lucas[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name]
Good luck!

My favorites from your list are [name]Celia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] (nn [name]Cece[/name]) and [name]Winter[/name] [name]Alison[/name] ( [name]Winnie[/name] or [name]Ali[/name]) both awesome names! I think [name]Julia[/name] is beautiful too! I love the fact of honoring your grandmothers

My favorites from your list and with your last name are [name]Celia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] or [name]Julia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] or [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Colleen[/name] for a girl and [name]Eliot[/name] [name]Frank[/name] or [name]Lucas[/name] [name]Kenneth[/name] for a boy. If you’re not sure about [name]Julia[/name], what about [name]Juliet[/name] or [name]Juliana[/name]? Some other possibilities:

[name]Winslow[/name] [name]Frank[/name]
[name]Winston[/name] [name]Frank[/name]

You have several wonderful names on your list!

[name]Daphne[/name] - this would sound better with the middle name [name]Mae[/name], I think. [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Alison[/name] sounds awkward to my ears.

[name]Celia[/name] - lovely underused name, can’t go wrong with it. Probably the standout on your list for me.

[name]Cordelia[/name] - I love this name. [name]Love[/name] it. My preferred nickname for it is [name]Cora[/name], which I adore. [name]Cordelia[/name] is a very versatile name. Who knows, maybe your kid wouldn’t be a [name]Cordy[/name] or a [name]Cory[/name]. Maybe she’d be a [name]Delia[/name] or a [name]Cora[/name]! Sometimes, it’s surprising what actually “sticks” once the baby is here.

[name]Primrose[/name] - what about [name]Posy[/name] or [name]Rose[/name] as a nickname instead? [name]Just[/name] throwing out other ideas. It’s a bit Hunger Games sort of trendy.

[name]Eliot[/name] - this would be much less hassle for the kid if spelled [name]Elliott[/name]. If you go with this, I’d HIGHLY encourage rethinking the alternative spelling here, for the sake of the child.

[name]Lucas[/name] - can’t go wrong with this one.

[name]August[/name] - I love it, too. [name]Gus[/name] might be off-putting to some as a nickname option, but I like it all the same.

[name]Oliver[/name] is my favorite from your list of boy names. I would stick with that. I definitely prefer [name]Daphne[/name], [name]Celia[/name], and [name]Cora[/name]/[name]Cordelia[/name] to [name]Willow[/name].
