Nathalie

[name]How[/name] would you pronounce it? Or would you skip it altogether and go straight to the more streamlined [name]Natalie[/name]?

I would pronounce it the same as [name]Natalie[/name]. I like both spellings, but I think I prefer [name]Natalie[/name] slightly over [name]Nathalie[/name] - though I also like the similar French name [name]Athalie[/name], which rhymes, and don’t really care for the Anglicized version [name]Atalie[/name]! I’m weird that way. :stuck_out_tongue:

I would pronounce the TH sound in it. I think she would have to correct spelling and pronunciation a lot. [name]Natalie[/name] is much simpler, and I always vote for the shorter versions of names.

I pronounce it just like [name]Natalie[/name]! Although since it was my “French” name when I was in high school, there is much more of a French emphasis to the name for me. More of a strong, punchy “T” sound rather than the more fluid, softer “D” sort of sound that I say when I say [name]Natalie[/name]. I do prefer the [name]Natalie[/name] spelling, I just think it’d be easier, but I do have a soft spot for [name]Nathalie[/name].

I would pronounce it the same as [name]Natalie[/name]. I actually really prefer the spelling [name]Nathalie[/name]!

I’d go with [name]Natalie[/name] and spell it the typical way.

Same as [name]Natalie[/name]. I wouldn’t use it in an English-speaking country, though; seems to be just setting your child up for complications. I’d stick with [name]Natalie[/name].

Yeahh… I’d pronounce it just the same as [name]Natalie[/name].

exactly what i was going to post.

While [name]Natalie[/name] is definitely easier, I too have a soft spot for the [name]Nathalie[/name] spelling. I like the softness of it and the French flair.

It’s a slight difference in pronunciation. [name]Natalie[/name] has a D sound “nad-uh-lee” while [name]Nathalie[/name] is softer “nat-tah-lee”.

I’m from south FL so because of the [name]Haitian[/name] population [name]Nathalie[/name] isn’t confusing. But if there isn’t a French influence where you live [name]Nathalie[/name] maybe called “natha-lee”

I would pronounce them the same unless the individual / family insisted on a French Nah-tah-lee instead of an American nad-uh-lee. Unless you have say a French surname and lots of French connections I do think [name]Natalie[/name] will be much easier and more straightforward.

Thanks, all. I know that there’ll likely be some pronunciation issues since where I live right now is predominately English-speaking, but I prefer the “t” sound over the “d”
