We’re trying for a sibling for [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u], and while boy names are pretty easy for us to settle on, it has been hard for us to find a girl name we love as much as [name_f]Ada[/name_f]. We love how unique [name_f]Ada[/name_f] is and would like something as equally unique if we have another girl.
This time we’re gravitating towards names with a nature theme or association, but we also like “old-fashioned” names. DH is really into the meanings of names, so while [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] are all great nature names he’s not as keen as having just a flower name, if that makes sense.
Below are our top considerations so far, but I’d love to see any suggestions for nature-themed names or old-fashioned names!
- Lena : It’s short and spunky, and it goes great with [name_f]Ada[/name_f]. It can mean light, moonlight, sunlight, and palm tree, so it’s not completely off the mark for our nature vibe. And, DH’s great grandfather had as sister named [name_f]Lena[/name_f], so there’s a cool family connection.
- Sylvie : We both think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is cute and love the meaning (from the forest). We like it better than [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. I just wonder if it’s a little too unknown in the US.
- Seneca : We both think this is a really cool name! It means people of the standing rock. Once again, just not sure if it’s a little too “out there”.
- Liana : We love the meaning (to climb like a vine), and it’s very pretty! I could see it being misspelled though.
- Juniper : I adore this name, and the nicknames [name_u]June[/name_u]/Junie are cute too. DH isn’t crazy about it, but he hasn’t vetoed it.
- Stella : I love it! It’s short, spunky, and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] go great together. DH isn’t super into it. He thinks everyone would shout “STELLAAAA!” at her.
Thanks in advance!
