Nature-themed Girl Name for Baby #2

I do agree that [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is becoming a bit popular!

We initially both really liked [name_f]Willa[/name_f] but then sort of talked ourselves out of it! I still go back and forth on it, but one thing I really like about it is that my late father’s name was [name_m]William[/name_m] so it’d be a special way to honor him. Maybe it will grow on us!

I love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] with [name_f]Ada[/name_f]! It’s old-fashioned and nature-themed and I don’t think it’s too obscure in the US to use, although I’m not American. I also love [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] with [name_f]Ada[/name_f] although I think I’d prefer just [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Juno[/name_f] with it. [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is also fantastic. [name_u]Seneca[/name_u] is cool but only for a boy, plus it seems far too different in style to [name_f]Ada[/name_f]. A name in the same vein that’s also a nature name you may like is [name_u]Sequoia[/name_u]. I actually know a little girl with this name and think it’s gorgeous! I also love the suggestion of Kit with Ada…

Have you considered [name_f]Nina[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f], Maple, [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], Meadow, [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Luella[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Leni[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_u]Noa[/name_u], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Paloma[/name_f], Pearl or [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]?

Hi there.

Ada is lovely.

Here are my thoughts on your list so far:

Lena-[name_u]Love[/name_u] this w/Ada. It has the same vibe, & is simple but not too popular.

Sylvie-I think it’s fine in the U.S. People know [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]; [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] isn’t too complicated. I personally think that it sounds nick-namey, even thought I know it’s a real name.

Seneca-It’s not my cup of tea, but it’s not awful. Go for it if you guys like it, & don’t worry about it being too out there.

Liana-It’s not bad. I agree that it will get misspelled & mispronounced.

Juniper-Keep working on convincing your dh of this one. It is really fun.

Stella-Oh, I love it too. It’s one of my favorites, & it’s perfect w/Ada. It’s a bit more popular though. I wouldn’t worry at all about the yelling STELLAAA thing. That’s a pretty dated reference.

I’m not great on knowing meanings of names, but I’ll suggest some old fashioned-y names that I think go well w/Ada. What do you think of…

Briar

Beatrice

Beatrix

Clara

Cora

Cecily

Coraline

Clementine

Eloise

Estelle

Flora

Frances

Gemma

Greta

Josephine

Lucy

Louise

Louisa

Lyra

Miriam

Pearl

Phoebe

Penelope

Ruby

Rosalie

Tess

Thea

Vivian

Willa

Zella

Hope this helps.

Sylvie is my favorite for you, but [name_f]Lena[/name_f] is also one of my all-time favorites and I love to see it being considered! Either one would go great with [name_f]Ada[/name_f], and I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Lena[/name_f] as a full name. “[name_u]Light[/name_u] of the forest” is such a great meaning.

As for the other options, [name_u]Seneca[/name_u] and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] seem too modern, and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is quite popular. [name_f]Liana[/name_f] fits well, I just don’t like it as much as [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lena[/name_f].

I love your first three options. I love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] the best! And [name_u]Seneca[/name_u] is very unique and compelling. I don’t think either are too out there for the US. But the family tie is just too hard to pass up with [name_f]Lena[/name_f]!

[name_u]Willow[/name_u]
[name_f]Lilac[/name_f]

[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Summer[/name_f]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]

Hope this helps!

I like [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] the best. [name_u]Seneca[/name_u] seems to stylistically different than [name_f]Ada[/name_f]. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] I think is the next big name like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. I don’t like popular names so I would shy away from [name_u]Juniper[/name_u].

@MeryIP and @QuirkFlower – I agree about [name_u]Seneca[/name_u] and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] being a little too modern next to [name_f]Ada[/name_f]. I actually love [name_u]June[/name_u] even more than [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] (like @TDFM, @elffff, and @Harvest-Endellion recommended), but DH doesn’t like just [name_u]June[/name_u], unfortunately. I may keep trying to work on him though because I think [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_u]June[/name_u] go great together!

I’m glad everyone seems to like [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]!! Those are definitely my top two right now. Also to @elffff’s point, we are pronouncing [name_f]Lena[/name_f] as LEEna, not LAYna (not sure if that changes anyone’s opinions, lol). I also like the idea of [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Lena[/name_f] for first and middle so I might have to pitch that to DH! Or possibly [name_f]Lena[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] if we like [name_f]Lena[/name_f] better for the first name!

Definitely going to look into some of the other names thrown out too! A few were ones we had tossed around but weren’t sure about so they might be worth another look, and there were some very pretty suggestions. Thank you everyone for your wonderful feedback!
