I love [name_f]Briar[/name_f] the best but I don’t think it’s really usable. That leaves [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and [name_f]Calla[/name_f] tied for me… but since there is a [name_f]Luna[/name_f] Lovegood character in [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]… I chose [name_f]Calla[/name_f].
I also love Thistle! Another hard to use name…
I chose [name_f]Calla[/name_f] because it sounds the closest to an actual name. And it has quite a beautiful and unique sound. I’m not a nature name fan, so the others just sound made-up to me. Sorry. I do like [name_f]Calla[/name_f] a lot though.
[name_f]Calla[/name_f] is really pretty, though I’m not sure if I should pronounce it [name_f]CA[/name_f]-la or CAH-la. I like [name_f]Briar[/name_f] too!
I like [name_f]Luna[/name_f] the most and [name_u]Sequoia[/name_u] the least. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is very wearable, and it has a certain ethereal quality. [name_u]Sequoia[/name_u] has an unattractive sound. [name_f]Calla[/name_f] and [name_f]Briar[/name_f] are alright, but not my style.
This is pretty much exactly what I was going to say.
I know [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and [name_f]Calla[/name_f] are NB faves, but I just can’t like them. They just don’t do anything for me. [name_f]Briar[/name_f] has a nice sound, but not a nice association. I don’t really get it as a name, unless her middle name is Rabbit or Patch.
I actually really like [name_u]Sequoia[/name_u]. It’s outlandishly hippie-ish, but I think that’s what I like about it. I love unabashed hippie names. I could never use one, unless my husband is out of the country or something when our children are named.
I’d rank them:
I suppose it does help if a person is open to nature-themed names. Though it can be good to have a naysayers opinion now and again. That said, these are all actual names … just not generally associated with people.
[name_f]Calla[/name_f] has been getting quite a bit of love. It is pretty, and has a classic feel to it. What I like about [name_f]Luna[/name_f], aside from finding it quite charming, is that it has the same meaning in many different languages.
When I think of [name_f]Briar[/name_f] I think of beauty with an edge, kinda rough and tumble. The sweetbriar has a beautiful rose flower. I also think of [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], the princess.
Thanks everyone!
My favorite is [name_f]Briar[/name_f]. I like the unisex feel.
[name_f]Luna[/name_f] is OK
[name_f]Calla[/name_f] is too normal for me. Like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and etc. it’s lost that kind of kooky, outdoorsy feel that nature names like [name_f]Briar[/name_f], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], or [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] still possess
I don’t care for [name_u]Sequoia[/name_u].
[name_f]Briar[/name_f] is really pretty and reminds me of [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], not [name_f]Briar[/name_f] rabbit (unless used on a boy). [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is not a name that originated with [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], so I don’t even think about that at all either. I love both of these, but the others aren’t my cup of tea.
[name_f]Calla[/name_f] is the prettiest for me. It has almost an ethereal sound that I find appealing. I’ve been to an old-growth forest in [name_u]California[/name_u] and was overwhelmed with the beauty of the trees so [name_u]Sequoia[/name_u] would be a bold and memorable choice. I don’t like [name_f]Luna[/name_f] ([name_f]Canada[/name_f] has the Looney dollar coin and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is too similar for me) and [name_f]Briar[/name_f] is harsh and unattractive.
I love all these names, favorite being [name_f]Calla[/name_f], than [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Briar[/name_f] and then [name_u]Sequoia[/name_u]!
