I ran across the name [name_f]Nayeli[/name_f] recently and wondered how other people perceive it. Since it is an ethnic name I’ve heard a couple ways to pronounce this in english but I would probably go with the pronunciation Nigh-[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] does this name sound to you? It does have some familiar sounding components “[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]” and “Ny”. Does this name sound pretty and unique or just weird and strange?
It’s very pretty! What bothers me a bit is the pronunciation issues, I’d be inclined to say ney-ellie instead of nigh-ellie. But maybe it’s because English isn’t my native language. Nevertheless, with familiar (and really cute) nicknames like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Naya[/name_f] and [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] I think it’s definitely usable.
I know a little girl named [name_f]Nayeli[/name_f]! It’s very pretty and no one seems to have trouble with the pronunciation ”
Gorgeous!! What a magical sounding name! And what a perfect meaning!
It’s unusual and looks and sounds very pretty. People may ignorantly stumble over it the first time but that doesn’t mean it isn’t accessible. It sounds kind of African to me…not sure if that is actually its origin.
I do think you will be forever correcting the pronunciation. I read “Nay-elli” too…if you really want a “Nigh-elli” pronunciation I would consider changing the spelling. I suggest Nyelli which still looks pretty.
I love it and it made it to my list of favourite girl names!
It’s a very beautiful name! I would pronounce it Nah-YEH-lee with a long eh if that makes sense.
One of my daughter’s daycare teachers is named [name_f]Nayeli[/name_f]! She pronounces it Nigh-[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. I think it’s really pretty! I did mispronounce it Nay-ellie the first time, and I’m sure she gets a lot of that, but I don’t think that’s a deal breaker.
I think it’s very pretty! I personally don’t have any trouble with the pronunciation, I pronounced it “nigh-ellie” immediately.
So pretty! On my frist read I did think nay-ellie but upon seeing the correct pronunciation I wasn’t confused. I don’t think most people who get it wrong would need to be corrected more than once, and anyone already familiar with the name certainly won’t mispronounce it.
