Ned / Ted

Is [name]Ned[/name] really only short for [name]Edward[/name] or [name]Edmund[/name]? I know [name]Ted[/name] can also be short for [name]Theodore[/name] but what other long names could you shorten to [name]Ned[/name] or [name]Ted[/name]?

I’ve always thought that N&T were interchangeable, and a book I have lists [name]Ned[/name] as a nn for [name]Theodore[/name].

Any names that have “ed” in them could be shortened if you wanted. I’m in love with the name [name]Ned[/name] and trying to find a name (other than [name]Edward[/name]/[name]Edmund[/name]) that it could be shortened to. Some I’ve found are:

[name]Edan[/name]/[name]Edin[/name]/[name]Eden[/name]
Edbert
[name]Edel[/name]
[name]Edelin[/name]/[name]Edlin[/name]
Eder
[name]Edgar[/name]
[name]Edgard[/name]
[name]Edison[/name]/[name]Eddison[/name]/[name]Edson[/name]
Edmar
[name]Edmund[/name]/[name]Edmond[/name]
Edrian
[name]Edric[/name]/Eddrick/
[name]Edsel[/name]

[name]Do[/name] you think there is anything wrong with just having [name]Ned[/name] as the name? I think that’s what we will end up doing if we go with that name.

I love [name]Edwin[/name] nn [name]Ned[/name], and [name]Theodore[/name] nn [name]Ted[/name]/[name]Teddy[/name].

I think [name]Ned[/name] would work on its own, but not [name]Ted[/name], for some reason. Not sure why.

Maybe something like [name]Thaddeus[/name] would work with the nickname [name]Ted[/name]? That’s the only other thing I can think of.
