Need a 2 syllable middle name for Malcolm

Our last name is one syllable and starts with “W”.

In the running as of now are: [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Ian[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Colin[/name] and [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Asher[/name] (although I kind of hear “Masher” when I say that together). I’d probably like to avoid a “W” name so as not to have alliteration (or is that not so bad?).

Ready? Go!

[name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Ian[/name] made me laugh because it reminds me of [name]Ian[/name] [name]Malcolm[/name] of Jurassic [name]Park[/name].

  • [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Jasper[/name]
  • [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]August[/name]
  • [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
  • [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Louis[/name]
  • [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Edward[/name]
  • [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Isaac[/name]
  • [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Neville[/name]
  • [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Caspar[/name]

Oh! I’m glad you mentioned that! I haven’t seen that movie in a bajillion years and I did t realize that was a character’s name.
Thanks for your suggestions!

I like [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Asher[/name] but I can see the Masher thing >.< And I don’t think alliteration is so bad if the middle name and last name are the ones with the alliteration.

I also liked the suggestion of [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Douglas[/name]

[name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Ian[/name] sounds beautiful, and I don’t think it’s too closely associated with a movie character. You could try [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Andrew[/name]. [name]Andrew[/name] is the patron saint of [name]Scotland[/name]. Sounds cool!

If your last name begins with W, then it’s worth noting that if you choose a middle name starting with A, I or O, your son’s initials will be MAW, MEW or MOW. That wouldn’t be a deal-breaker for me at all, but I thought I should mention it.

[name]Malcolm[/name] is a fabulous name and there have been some great middle names suggested.

[name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Dexter[/name] and I like [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Douglas[/name], it has some sparkle.

[name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Angus[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Fergus[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Finlay[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Gwilym[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Ivor[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]David[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Hugh[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Donald[/name],
[name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Giles[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]James[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Archie[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Hamish[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Gordon[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Graham[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Geraint[/name]

Thanks for mentioning this, holey. I had, in fact, considered this. I’m not sure it would be a deal breaker for me but I would rather initials NOT spell a word. I suppose if I felt the name was close to perfect, I’d just overlook any initial issues. [name]One[/name] of our son’s initials are RAW. We just say it’s cos he’s RAWesome. We’re dorks like that.
Thanks, again for taking the time to comment

Thanks miloowen! I like almost all of these. Particularly- [name]Fergus[/name], [name]Ivor[/name],[name]Hugh[/name], [name]James[/name] and [name]Graham[/name].

I’ll add them to our list

My Grandmother’s maiden name is [name]Scott[/name] (I realize it’s one syllable). [name]Do[/name] you think [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Scott[/name] is TOO Scottish? As a name on it’s own, do you think [name]Scott[/name] is really dated?

I like the combo of [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Scott[/name] and if you have Scottish forebears it is fitting to use a Scottish flavoured name and even if there are no Scots in the family and you just love the names that is fine too.

([name]Just[/name] an aside, My Scottish forebear had the common name of [name]Smith[/name] so I would never use that but you are lucky [name]Scott[/name] is a great name to perpetuate.)

Is [name]Scott[/name] dated? Yes and No. I would rather see a [name]Scott[/name] than a [name]Benjamin[/name] which is way too popular for my tastes and you have the added bonus of [name]Scott[/name] being Grandma’s maiden name which is wonderful.

I really think this is one for the short list. (I am still really impressed with [name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Douglas[/name] I like that a lot.)

Thanks, rollo. I always appreciate your opinion. We do have Scots on my Father’s side. My brother’s middle name is [name]Scott[/name] (for our Grandmother) so using [name]Scott[/name] as [name]Malcolm[/name]'s middle might be a nice little nod to him as well.

[name]Malcolm[/name] [name]Douglas[/name] is definitely towards the top- it really is handsome, isn’t it?
