So all the nameberries helped me find the perfect girl’s name … and I just found out it’s a boy. We’ve had a first and middle for a boy picked out for a while now, but my husband is wishy-washy until the very morning of each child’s arrival, so now that he knows it’s a boy, he’s having second thoughts about the name.
We currently have Renner as the front-runner, which is my husband’s grandmother’s maiden name. I once knew a [name]Lawrence[/name] who went by [name]Ren[/name], and always thought it was a great nickname. But now my husband has discovered that [name]Wren[/name] is moving up the ranks as a girl’s name, and is apprehensive about any name that might be remotely confused with a girl’s name. I know, his reasoning is a little silly. You don’t have to tell me.
Regardless, now we need a back-up. Our son’s name is [name]Elton[/name] (also a family name), so any -on or -en name is out due to similar sounds. Still, here are some I like (even ones we can’t use) to give you an idea or our taste:
[name]Ansel[/name]
[name]Orson[/name]
[name]Finian[/name]
[name]Bram[/name]
Not too many I’ve come across yet. Anyone have some older boy’s names in your back pocket you can share?
