Need a boy name-complex criteria

Hello!

Searching and searching for the name for my boy due in [name]November[/name]. I have two other children, [name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name].

Here is my criteria:

  • Our last name is very Spanish, four syllables-- so the name has to somewhat flow with that.
  • The middle name will almost 100% be [name]Roberto[/name] after my late father in law.
  • I [name]DON[/name]'T want a name (or mostly don’t) that is extremely Spanish in feel because middle and last are and I want to be international to some extent and also represent his other side of heritage to some degree.
  • BUT it has to be usable in both Spanish and English because my family only speaks English and my husband’s family ony speaks Spanish and I’d like it to be fairly well understood in both.
  • Must flow well with [name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name] and ideally not start with a G or an L.
  • I’d PREFER it to not be more than 3 syllables long.

Currently on our list is [name]Ruben[/name], [name]Elias[/name], [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name], and [name]Ephraim[/name]/[name]Efrain[/name]…just to give you an idea. Not at all really set on any of those, though.

OK! What about these:
Alamar
[name]Christian[/name]
[name]Hector[/name]
[name]Joel[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Nicolas[/name]
[name]Ramone[/name]
[name]Tomas[/name]
[name]Victor[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]

Any good?!

[name]Ezra[/name], [name]Mario[/name], [name]Moses[/name], [name]Adam[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Ezekiel[/name] ([name]Zeke[/name]). I live in an area where a good majority of people are, like your children and myself, the children of one parent who’s family speaks English and the other Spanish. Biblical names seem to be the go to, but Italian name are also really popular probably because they’re kind of a happy medium between Spanish and English names. [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Elias[/name] and [name]Nathaniel[/name] on your list are all very nice with [name]Roberto[/name].

I really like every name on your list and I think any of them would work great! Though [name]Ruben[/name] doesn’t sound too great with [name]Roberto[/name]

[name]Anthony[/name]
[name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Phillip[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Justin[/name]
[name]Isaiah[/name]
[name]Quentin[/name]

[name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Lucia[/name], & [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Lucia[/name] & [name]Isaiah[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Lucia[/name], & [name]Solomon[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Lucia[/name], & [name]Samson[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Lucia[/name], & [name]Zachariah[/name] (not sure if your kids have nn of [name]Gabe[/name] & [name]Lucy[/name] but if they do I think [name]Gabe[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], & [name]Zach[/name] are awesome)

I agree that [name]Gabriel[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] and [name]Angelo[/name] sound cool together but my problem with [name]Angelo[/name] is that it feels maybe too long and fluffy to use on a regular basis (for me) but I can’t think of a good nick name for it. Can you think of anything else with a similar ring and feel with the other two? The rest, all on the right vibe for sure, just not sure I’m finding “the” name. I think [name]Oscar[/name] is cool but how do you think it is in real life usage? Whenever I’ve suggested it people say “…the grouch” of course…

yes we usually call them [name]Gabe[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] or [name]Gabe[/name] and [name]Luz[/name]. [name]Zachary[/name] was one on our list that I forgot to mention though someone told me they thought of all Zachs as between 25 and 40 years old. Not that it’s all that important I guess.

I do automatically think of the grouch when I hear [name]Oscar[/name] (or [name]Oscar[/name] [name]Meyer[/name] Weiner’s lol), sorry. I think [name]Zachary[/name] is a great name. I actually don’t know that many of them. What about [name]Adrian[/name]?

We have basically the same requirements in names (I remember responding to a thread of yours a few months back). Though I usually say we want a name that works in English and Spanish, what I really want is a name that is also international as well. We chose [name]Sebastian[/name] to go with our [name]Lucia[/name] because it is a name that is heard all over Europe (French, [name]German[/name], English, Spanish, etc.) just like [name]Lucia[/name] is. I think the “saint names” category of names is a good place to look because they end up being pretty international.

I think [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Tomas[/name], [name]Nicolas[/name], and [name]Sebastian[/name] fit best with the Spanish/English AND international requirement. [name]Felix[/name] (our pick for #3) would also work well.

Of your other choices listed, I really like [name]Elias[/name] and [name]Efrain[/name] - neither of them are super easy in English but definitely do-able. [name]Efrain[/name] would be harder than [name]Elias[/name] to explain to English speakers. The others on your list are also nice.

All of these names sound great with [name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name].

With [name]Roberto[/name] I like [name]Nicolas[/name] [name]Roberto[/name], [name]Elias[/name] [name]Roberto[/name], and [name]Tomas[/name] [name]Roberto[/name] the most.

thanks  [name]Nicholas[/name] is [name]Gabriel[/name]'s middle name (my Dads name) so it’s out unfortunately. [name]Elias[/name] is becoming a big contender for me because it seems to meet most/all of the criteria. [name]Do[/name] I [name]LOVE[/name] it? Not sure…Not sure I love love anything yet :frowning: Hoping I either find something that I love or that [name]Elias[/name] or another name starts to grow on me more. [name]Thomas[/name] is a family name for us as well so [name]Tomas[/name] would make sense but it still feels not as international as I’d like being prn. [name]ToMAS[/name], everyone in the US would just say [name]Thomas[/name], and I don’t love [name]Tom[/name] or [name]Tommy[/name]… I think [name]Efrain[/name] is too hard for English speakers as well so it’s probably out. [name]Felix[/name] is super cute but I worry about [name]Felix[/name] the cat or-- it feels like a cat name to me even though I love that it means happy.

and now [name]Felix[/name] is growing on me
