I’m due in seven weeks and have a list of names we like, but none are the [name]ONE[/name]. We prefer names that you most likely haven’t heard before or at least haven’t met anyone named that (so very uncommon but not cooky). We like feminine names and I’ve found I lean toward names that end on “a.” Here’s names we like:
Although [name]Anorah[/name] isn’t my taste, it’s a lovely name.
Have you heard:
[name]Isannah[/name]
[name]Isaline[/name]
[name]Maelys[/name]
[name]Maelle[/name]/[name]Maelie[/name]
[name]Lilja[/name] (pron. [name]Lil[/name]-ya)
Ailbe (All-bay)
[name]Suvi[/name]
[name]Marilla[/name]
[name]Malou[/name]
[name]Milena[/name] is my favorite on your list. Nickname [name]Millie[/name] would be cute if you like nicknames. Some people don’t. I love the name [name]Viviana[/name] but I’m not sure how common that is? I’d never heard it until I got on nameberry. [name]One[/name] I’ve recently liked is Aneliya/Anelia. I pronounce it [name]Ah[/name]-Neh-lee-uh(but kind of a quicker lee-uh) Nickname [name]Neli[/name] or [name]Nellie[/name]. I think it is lovely and different.
I can’t go by whether I’ve met someone with the name because a lot of my friends have really unusual ones (and I know a Milena). Some wonderful people I’ve known are named:
Mirela
Althea
Nola
Vashti
Layli
Mara
Rhea
Neda
Amity
Jerusha (mentioned in previous post but I actually know one)
Alta
Alma (again mentioned by PP. The one I know is MN Florence)
Leeza
Petra
Zia
Catriona
Lolita
Aida
Ida
Barah
Amalia
Fayola
Elaheh
Naoma
Halleh
Lindy
Eleni
Verna
Calla
Arda
Zola
Aditi
Talia
Shayda
Jaleh
May (familiar but surprising?)
Darla
Anisa
Cathinka
Zabine
Sina
Moira
Risa
Dara
Lua
Linnea
Flora
Phedra
Pari
To me, these are all girly and unusual, and they all have legit history/meaning, belonging to actual people I know or knew, from diverse cultural backgrounds.
[name]Severine[/name] (Se-va-REEN) is very pretty, it was floating around due to the new Skyfall movie, and I didn’t really think much about it, but when I watched the movie and heard it out loud, I thought it was very feminine and beautiful.
