[name]Hi[/name] [name]Berry[/name]'s!
I’m a long time lurker, but first time poster. I’m hoping you can help.
We have a son, [name]Romeo[/name] [name]Christian[/name] and are expecting another boy around [name]Valentine[/name]'s [name]Day[/name] 2011.
Here is our “problem”:
~ We are Italian but do not like traditional Italian names (we’re bored of them; heard them all 100000 times)
~ We live in [name]North[/name] [name]America[/name], but vacation in [name]Italy[/name]/Croatia to visit family every year
~ We like LATIN based names, with [name]North[/name] American “cool factor”
~ Husband and I have very different taste in names.
Here is our short list so far, with what we see as their ‘negatives’, hence, not loving anything yet:
[name]Valentine[/name] or [name]Valentino[/name] (only if born on [name]Valentine[/name]'s day, otherwise we fear it’s a bit corny with [name]Romeo[/name])
[name]Teo[/name] - problem is everyone in [name]North[/name] [name]America[/name] mispronounces it TEE-OH
Here are names I love, [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name], but husband does not:
[name]Rio[/name]
[name]Ace[/name] (he thinks its a nn)
Monaco
[name]August[/name] / [name]Augustus[/name]
[name]Oscar[/name]
[name]Rocco[/name] - sounds terrible with our last name
[name]Wolfgang[/name] - also sounds terrible with our last name
[name]Milan[/name] - Husband thinks it’s too “common” in Croatia
[name]Phoenix[/name] - doesn’t translate well in Europe; but a possible middle name
Here are names he likes, but i’m so BORED by:
[name]Stefan[/name]
[name]Rafael[/name]
[name]Dario[/name]
[name]Andrea[/name] (considered a girls name in [name]North[/name] [name]America[/name])
I have scoured for inspiration. What name(s) am I missing?
…Latin based (not Latino), but [name]North[/name] American cool? Has to “match” with [name]Romeo[/name]
[name]Lindsey[/name] - The Beckhams have a [name]Romeo[/name] and a [name]Cruz[/name]!!! I just couldn’t…!
[name]Mischa[/name] - My husband lived in Spain for years and I guess he’s “over” many of the Spanish names, (like how I’m over the Italian ones). There are some interesting ones on there:
[name]Augustin[/name]
[name]Elias[/name] (I love it, Husband hates it!)
[name]Nestor[/name]
[name]Rey[/name] is a GREAT middle!
I also [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Ronan[/name], but we feel its too close to [name]Romeo[/name].
[name]Hi[/name]! [name]Romeo[/name] is so dashing and strong The first name that popped into my head for a brother was [name]Hector[/name]. Other suggestions (sorry for repeats)…
I’m looking for a Spanish compatible name. [name]Do[/name] any of these interest you? [name]Matias[/name], [name]Mateo[/name], [name]Iago[/name], [name]Diego[/name], [name]Andres[/name], [name]Santiago[/name], [name]Hugo[/name], [name]Camilo[/name] …
I absolutley [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Andres[/name], but its my high school sweethearts name. Would that be too weird?!
I love [name]Andres[/name] and all it’s versions too: [name]Andrea[/name] ([name]Italy[/name]), [name]Andre[/name] (french), [name]Andreas[/name] (greek?) etc.
That’s why we want a latin “root” name, so that it will travel well across Europe.
I love the nn [name]ACE[/name]. What are some full names that could become [name]Ace[/name]?
