We are currently pregnant with #3 (due this fall) and while we have a good idea what we like names wise I could use some input. My oldest (son) is named [name]Reuben[/name] [name]Christopher[/name], my second (daughter) is named Inara [name]Jean[/name]. We won’t know this one’s gender until next month (but I feel like it’s a boy, and I was right about the other 2 so we’ll see) but I really like to plan. I start working in names as soon as we get a positive test! So for this baby…
[name]Thatcher[/name] [name]Daven[/name] (dh’s middle name-non negotiable)
Or we could go with [name]Rafe[/name] or maybe [name]Jude[/name] but we really really love [name]Thatcher[/name]
For a girl we have…
[name]Eleanor[/name] but we would call her [name]Nella[/name]. No middle name figured out yet.
[name]How[/name] do any of them sound with our current childrens names. They don’t have to be awesome but I would prefer them not to sound gosh awful together. Thanks for any input!
I quite like [name]Thatcher[/name], I don’t mind it with [name]Reuben[/name], but I’m not sure that it is stylistically compatible with Inara. I think [name]Jude[/name] might be a better match with your other two names. BUT if you love [name]Thatcher[/name], and aren’t too concerned with this (and really it’s only name nuts who might pick up on something like this), then go for it. I really like [name]Thatcher[/name] [name]Daven[/name] as a combo.
I like [name]Eleanor[/name] too, and maybe as a middle you could go with [name]Davene[/name]??
I love [name]Thatcher[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] both are great names. [name]Do[/name] you have any other family names to use as a middle for [name]Eleanor[/name]?
I love [name]Thatcher[/name]! It’s a great name, you don’t hear it very often.
I adore [name]Eleanor[/name] too… one of my best friend’s has an 8 year old niece named [name]Eleanor[/name] that exclusively goes by [name]Eleanor[/name], no nicknames. I love it, it’s so strong and classic. And using [name]Nell[/name], [name]Nella[/name], [name]Elle[/name], etc for nn’s gives it that femininity.
[name]Thatcher[/name] is great! It’s not what I would have pictured with [name]Reuben[/name] but it’s not bad. [name]Thatcher[/name] [name]Daven[/name] sounds great together too. Have you considered [name]Judah[/name]? That was my first thought with [name]Reuben[/name], although that might be a bit Old Testament heavy!
I think [name]Eleanor[/name], nn [name]Nella[/name] is daring, but I know I would personally get a bit tongue twisted with big sister Inara.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Love[/name] [name]Love[/name] [name]Thatcher[/name]. He would be the perfect additon to your sib-set.
However, [name]Elenor[/name], I think would feel very out of place. I would use this as a mn, because of your love of more ‘normal’ mn choices i.e [name]Christoper[/name].
Inara is gorgeous and I think her sister should compliment that name, not rattle the cages and make Inara feel too out there and [name]Elenor[/name] not feel unique enough.
The reason I picked [name]Eleanor[/name] for our girl name is I love the name [name]Nella[/name] but hubby didn’t want it as the first name. I suggested [name]Eleanor[/name] as the first name but we would call her [name]Nella[/name] and he is totally fine with that. I couldn’t think of any other names that [name]Nella[/name] would work as a nickname with.
Ultrasound is in 2 weeks!
dove14- Inara is Arabic and the meaning we found most often while looking for one was “light from God/Gift from God”
I am the odd one out here. I do not like [name]Thatcher[/name] for a couple of reasons
It was the name of one of [name]England[/name]'s most prominent prime ministers ie [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Thatcher[/name]
It sounds very stuffy and preppy too. I picture someone who is condescending because they think that they are ‘the ants pants’, ie better than everyone else.
If you like your children’s names to blend well [name]Reuben[/name] and [name]Thatcher[/name] are stylistically very different.
While [name]Thatcher[/name] isn’t my favorite, I’ll admit that it does work quite well with [name]Reuben[/name]. Inara feels a bit off with [name]Thatcher[/name] stylistically but that’s not a major problem. I love [name]Eleanor[/name] but I feel like other full names that lend themselves to the nn [name]Nella[/name] would work better with [name]Reuben[/name] and Inara.
Full names for the nn [name]Nella[/name] could be (some of these are stretches):
[name]Angelica[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]/[name]Annabella[/name]
[name]Cornelia[/name]
[name]Daniella[/name]
[name]Emmanuelle[/name]/[name]Emmanuella[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
My favorites with [name]Reuben[/name] and Inara are [name]Helena[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name].
