We just had a beautiful baby girl yesterday morning- we were expecting another boy (because we have 2 and didn’t want to dare think for a second we would be so lucky as to get a girl this time) and it’s a lovely surprise but we don’t have a name ready. Siblings are [name_u]Noah[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Eli[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]. Last name ferris.
Thoughts appreciated on the following:
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] [name_f]Noor[/name_f] (I like that noor means light)
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] ([name_f]May[/name_f] was my great grandmother)
[name_u]Skye[/name_u] (we are half Scottish in origin)
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f] (a bit trendy?)
[name_f]Liana[/name_f] or [name_f]Lea[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] (also a bit too trendy?)
[name_f]Thandie[/name_f] (I am South African and it means beloved)
[name_f]Mia[/name_f] or [name_f]Maya[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Leila[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Lea[/name_f] are a bit too close to [name_m]Eli[/name_m] in my opinion. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Noor[/name_f] is beautiful, as is [name_f]Thandie[/name_f] [name_f]Noor[/name_f] or [name_f]Thandie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f].
[name_f]Maya[/name_f] would be my pick, partly because I think it’s a gorgeous, versatile name and partly because your great-grandmother’s name was [name_f]May[/name_f]. [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Noor[/name_f] [name_m]Ferris[/name_m]? [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Thandie[/name_f] [name_m]Ferris[/name_m]?
In my opinion [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] isn’t exactly ‘trendy’ but it is really, really popular right now. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_m]Ferris[/name_m] is a beautiful name if it doesn’t bother you that there will be lots of Olivias around her age. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Noor[/name_f] [name_m]Ferris[/name_m] would be very nice.
I fear that the lovely [name_f]Lila[/name_f] might sound too similar to [name_m]Eli[/name_m]. [name_f]Leila[/name_f], [name_f]Lea[/name_f] and [name_f]Liana[/name_f] too, but less so.
I vote either [name_f]Thandie[/name_f] or [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. I think the L names are too close to [name_m]Eli[/name_m]. As for trendiness, [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] definitely isn’t trendy where I live (in [name_f]England[/name_f])- pretty and recognisable but not over used. And [name_f]Thandie[/name_f] is gorgeous and unique, fits beautifully with your two sons!
[name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_u]Noah[/name_u], and ____ [name_m]Ferris[/name_m]
[name_f]Thandie[/name_f] is adorable, it works in the sibset, it’s meaningful to you guys, and it is pretty uncommon; and my only concern is that it sounds like a girl’s name and not an adult’s name. If you pick [name_f]Thandie[/name_f] I suggest you pair it was an adult-sounding first/middle name. For example, [name_f]Thandie[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Thandie[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Thandie[/name_f] [name_f]Maya[/name_f].
I agree with others that all the “L” names are too close to the name [name_m]Eli[/name_m]. Also, [name_f]Mia[/name_f] sounds prissy and awkward in this sibset.
If you use [name_f]Noor[/name_f] and [name_u]Skye[/name_u] and [name_f]Thandie[/name_f], all are personally meaningful, then I would suggest:
[name_u]Skye[/name_u] [name_f]Thandie[/name_f] [name_f]Noor[/name_f] [name_m]Ferris[/name_m]. “[name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_u]Noah[/name_u], and [name_u]Skye[/name_u]”
Thanks for all the input - I will give us until Friday to decide. I like [name_f]Maya[/name_f] more than [name_f]Mia[/name_f] but many members of my family (brothers and mom) have slightly negative associations with the name because of one woman they know somewhat. Not sure if thats a reason not to use the name as I have lots of other great associations with [name_f]Maya[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] best friend considers [name_u]Skye[/name_u] either a strippers name or too hippy—and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] too old school. Hard to please everyone and myself. Personally I don’t mind if there are l’s in [name_f]Leila[/name_f]/[name_f]Lila[/name_f] and an l sound in [name_m]Eli[/name_m] - I mind more that they all have their own initials. So no E or N name for my little girl as [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] start with those letters. So hard! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband feels [name_f]Thandie[/name_f] comes from a totally different tradition than our two boys names so our little girl’s name would be oddly mismatched. Anyway, I’m still undecided. Any further thoughts welcome - I love the unbiased help!
I love [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], its what Im calling my daughter, due mid [name_f]October[/name_f]! it fits well with [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u], good luck, its a tough job to choose the right name…I agree with your husband about [name_f]Thandie[/name_f], doesnt quite fit
I love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter is [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] so maybe I’m a bit biased! [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] is great too.
I have a 7 year old named [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f], love her name I also love [name_f]Lila[/name_f], considering it for my daughter due next month.
I love [name_u]Skye[/name_u], I wish it was used more often. Also love [name_f]Lea[/name_f], and how well it sounds with the short, sweet, almost biblical boy names of [name_u]Noah[/name_u] & [name_m]Eli[/name_m].
I like the meaning of [name_f]Thandie[/name_f] to you, but overall, it’s not my favorite, although it is fun, unique and spunky.
I agree that [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] & [name_f]Mia[/name_f] & [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] are too popular. And I dislike [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], especially over [name_f]Lea[/name_f] or [name_u]Skye[/name_u].
i really dislike [name_f]Thandie[/name_f] sorry. [name_f]Mia[/name_f] is soo popular. [name_u]Skye[/name_u] is so hippy. Maybe i don’t have your taste?
