Alright guys, in my romance story my main character ([name_f]Alice[/name_f]) has a twin sister that’s she’s bffs with. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] tells everything to her sister and they are really close, so this sister is going to serve as a bit of a moral support character for [name_f]Alice[/name_f] here. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and her sister are both 21 years old, born in the early 90’s, raised in [name_m]Portland[/name_m] to a well-to-do family. [name_f]Alice[/name_f]'s sister was originally born [name_m]Eric[/name_m] and has recently made the full transition from male to female… So the name [name_f]Alice[/name_f]'s sister will choose is going to mean a lot to this character. The easy name to pick is [name_f]Erica[/name_f], but that just seems too easy. I am really liking the name [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] because it sounds sweet, feminine, and reminds me of the word melody which is also another sweet association; and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] also makes for a likely nickname.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]'s sister is the younger sibling, she’s sweet, overly trusting, sensitive, hates being alone, and uses humor as a defense mechanism. So I’m looking for sweet feminine names, the name doesn’t have to have an E in it, it just has to reflect a sweet sensitive nature. The twin’s last name is [name_m]Hart[/name_m].
I suppose a good question to ask would be what names does this character like? Assuming she chose the name for herself, it’s not likely she’d think, “I’m sweet, so I need a sweet name.” Is there anything that might influence what name your character chose to call themselves by?
I feel that this character would what a short, feminine, and frilly name. I also feel that since this character would pick this name as her legal name after she made the full transition, that the name would also have a symbolism that’s tied to rebirth or coming into bloom. I looked at names that mean “rebirth” and none of them seem pretty enough, so right now I’m interested in flower names and names that could mean “to flourish.”
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] is looking pretty interesting, but I think I could do better. I’m still brainstorming with this character, so if anyone has any names that could tie into a rebirth and flourish theme, I would be forever grateful! [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is still an option, because I believe one meaning of [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] is “marsh flower” in Greek.
If what I’m lead to believe is correct, the names [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] and [name_f]Renata[/name_f] mean something akin to rebirth, but they’re neither short nor frilly. I just thought they were pretty.

Recently in the trans community, we lost an amazing human named [name_f]Leelah[/name_f] and the way you described the character really reminds me of her so you can use that or a variant of it ([name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Layla[/name_f]…etc)

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this idea! I love the name [name_f]Lila[/name_f], I was going to use [name_f]Lila[/name_f] as a pen name but decided on a different name. I think I’ll use [name_f]Lila[/name_f] for this character, but spell it [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] so it’ll be a little closer to [name_f]Leelah[/name_f]. Awhile back I lost a friend that was agendered, so gender issues have become really important to me, so I wanted to have a non-cisgendered person in my story. Thank you so much for your suggestion.
