Hello Berries! Well, if you have been following my posts you may have seen I was set on the name [name]Theodore[/name] for my little boy who is due early [name]December[/name]. My husband and I have decided that the only reason we really liked [name]Theodore[/name] was because of the family significance, but not because we like the name. We decided to scrap the name!
So, it is time to figure out something new! I have gone back to our old list, and nothing seems quite right. To get a feel for our styles I will list some of our previous favorites. Any new suggestions you have would be wonderful! Thank you!
[name]Colby[/name] - husband’s favorite
[name]Arthur[/name] – probably the middle name*
[name]Dashiell[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]
[name]Beau[/name]
[name]Boaz[/name]* (I still love this one, but hubby doesn’t)
[name]Hugh[/name]
[name]Jethro[/name]
a few new ideas I like, but husband doesn’t as much (it looks like I was on an “n” ending kick-- this wasn’t intentional:
[name]Garrison[/name]
[name]Gideon[/name]
[name]Solomon[/name]
[name]Simeon[/name]
[name]Fielding[/name]* I really like this one this morning
our last name is two syllables and ends in -er, so I would like to avoid ending with an R for the first
As always-- thank you for all your help!
Thank you so much everyone for the lovely suggestions! There are some names here I hadn’t thought of and I really like. I also showed the list to my husband and there were a few he liked as well.
[name]Harlan[/name] (actually a family name - we both really like it) – we wouldn’t want to use [name]Harley[/name] though…
[name]Elliot[/name] - might have gone to the girls
[name]Samson[/name] - husband doesn’t know about this one
[name]Graham[/name] - really like this one
[name]Harrison[/name]/[name]Garrison[/name] - I like both names – hubby doesn’t
[name]Everett[/name] - pretty good
[name]Griffin[/name] - good but [name]Finn[/name] is a popular nn if you consider all the [name]Finn[/name] names
Thanks everyone for your help so far. My husband just told me he has been thinking about [name]Jethro[/name] (nn [name]Jet[/name]) again (a name I have loved for a while). That is an exciting step in the right direction.
I think we like [name]Jethro[/name] and [name]Harlan[/name] the best so far. More suggestions would be happily received.
I think [name]Jethro[/name], [name]Harlan[/name] and [name]Graham[/name] come from very different style families. [name]Jethro[/name] and [name]Harlan[/name] are 100% Southern good ole boys to me (though [name]Harlan[/name] sounds much more refined and courtly than [name]Jethro[/name]). [name]Graham[/name], on the other hand, is more British and crisp.
Along the lines of [name]Jethro[/name] & [name]Harlan[/name]:
Ok, a few more along the lines of [name]Jethro[/name] and [name]Harlan[/name]…
