So, we’re not currently expecting (just had our first!) and are not TTC, however, I just like to have a list of potential names going. But all of our names seem to be falling flat lately and I want to start over. DH loves [name]Sofia[/name]. I used to (still do? Idk…) but its popularity is bugging me. The other name we really like is [name]Arya[/name] but DH doesn’t want to use it before we use [name]Sofia[/name]. Sigh. Help!
Our little girl is [name]Ruby[/name] and our boy picks are [name]Peter[/name], [name]Jack[/name], and [name]Colt[/name].

[name]Zoe[/name] - I like it a lot. It’s cute, spunky but very feminine and I see it aging well. It’s a winner in my book.
[name]Alexandra[/name] - It’s certainly elegant and sophisticated, but I feel it falls a bit flat.
[name]Astrid[/name] - I know someone who’s mother is an [name]Astrid[/name]. She was tortured relentlessly in [name]Junior[/name] High because of the first syllable, so it doesn’t have very positive associations for me.
[name]Chiara[/name] - NMS.
[name]Chloe[/name] - I think it’s too popular, honestly. The sound doesn’t really appeal to me either.
[name]Anabella[/name] - [name]Lovely[/name], but I hate the nickname [name]Bella[/name].

[name]Aurora[/name] - Fine enough, but it’s kind of tough to say at times.

[name]Julia[/name] - A bit too plain for me. I don’t really like it.
[name]Lily[/name] - Sweet, but very popular, which is a bit of a turn off for me.
[name]Sofia[/name] and [name]Natalie[/name] are just average to me.
Sounds like your best bet would be to find a name that sounds similar to [name]Sofia[/name]. [name]Sofia[/name] is a Greek name, so you could start by using the Nameberry Super Search to look up specifically Greek names. You may find some options there that you both like! Many Italian names also have the same feel as [name]Sofia[/name], and [name]Cecilia[/name] sounds similar as well. Good luck!
What about [name]Nadia[/name]? DH kinda likes it. Any suggestions sort of like that? I tried my favs from your suggestions ([name]Lucy[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], [name]Stella[/name], [name]Gianna[/name], and [name]Thalia[/name]) and he nixed them all. Tried the super search for Greek and Italian names and I got “too ethnic”. Sigh. Lol he can be such a hard man to please!
