Actually, [name]Kai[/name] is either Norse or Welsh, depending on which version ([name]Kai[/name] is Norse; [name]Cai[/name] or Cei is Welsh). [name]Rune[/name] is a Norwegian name too, so [name]Kai[/name] and [name]Rune[/name] go very well together.
Have you thought of the [name]Beach[/name] Boy names? [name]Todd[/name], [name]Brian[/name], [name]Cory[/name], [name]Gary[/name], [name]Steve[/name], etc. These were all the southern [name]California[/name] names that were popular in the early 60’s.
I have a student named [name]Harley[/name] – a name I thought I hated – but I actually really like it now and he’s a really cool kid.
Wow a ton of great suggestions! I hadn’t been on here for a few days and now I have some wonderful names to choose from!
I love [name]Beau[/name]!!! I got so excited and called my mom, and the first thing she said was “[name]Kai[/name] and [name]Beau[/name]? KaiBeau! [name]Just[/name] like [name]Tae[/name] bo!” I’m never, ever, telling my mom a name again. Now all I can think of is KaiBeau. Is it really that bad?
Also love:
[name]Leo[/name]
[name]Wes[/name] (can you name a baby just “wes?” The reason I love [name]Weston[/name], is because I love the nickname [name]Wes[/name])
[name]Ryker[/name]
[name]Ryder[/name] (But can’t use. That’s the annoying kid next door who loves to walk into our house unannounced multiple times a day to “play” with [name]Kai[/name] (who is still only 11 mo) He walked in on me in the bathroom a week ago. GRRRR.)
[name]Wade[/name]
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Bodhi[/name] (already know one :/, like I said, Hawaiian residents name their kids well. I have yet to meet a [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Isabella[/name], [name]Jacob[/name], [name]Aiden[/name], etc.)
[name]How[/name] do you feel about [name]Kendrick[/name] or [name]Chase[/name]? [name]Do[/name] [name]Kenny[/name] and [name]Chase[/name] have a laid back vibe?
I’m now considering:
[name]Kendrick[/name] “[name]Kenny[/name]”
[name]Chase[/name]
[name]Beau[/name] (too much with [name]Kai[/name]??)
[name]Slater[/name]
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Wade[/name]
[name]Ryker[/name]
[name]Wes[/name] (too short?..although [name]Kai[/name] is short…but I feel it packs more of a punch by itself than [name]Wes[/name] does…)
New to the thread here. First I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Beau[/name]! I can totally picture a tan little boy with this name. Very handsome. I’m not a big fan of [name]Wes[/name] on it’s own, it sounds a little like [name]Chas[/name], which I don’t like either - it almost sounds incomplete. I do like [name]Weston[/name] and [name]West[/name] though as well as [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Grant[/name] from your list.
The rest are just OK for me. In particular, [name]Ryker[/name] reminds me of the New [name]York[/name] prison Riker’s Island, [name]Slater[/name] still reminds me of Saved By The [name]Bell[/name], [name]Wade[/name] and [name]Chase[/name] seem kind of dopey to me and [name]Kendrick[/name] is nice, but the nn [name]Kenny[/name] is tarnished by South [name]Park[/name] in my eyes.
I like others’ suggestions of [name]Zeke[/name], [name]Cruz[/name], [name]Gray[/name], and [name]Blaise[/name].

It’s also Maori! It means food
I’m not a fan of [name]Beau[/name]. I like [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Chase[/name] out of your list of names you’re considering
[name]Love[/name] [name]Beau[/name] and don’t think it is too much with [name]Kai[/name].
Also thought of [name]Bodhi[/name], but since that is too common others that sprang to mind were [name]Keanu[/name], too matchy?, or [name]Taj[/name] (there is a famous Australian surfer called [name]Taj[/name] Burrow). Very cool and laid back [name]IMO[/name]. What about [name]Sol[/name], which means peace?
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Beau[/name]; it sounds fine with [name]Kai[/name] imo. I also like [name]Chase[/name], [name]Zane[/name] and [name]Wiley[/name] (spelled like this). I have a soft spot for [name]Kenny[/name], except I don’t like it with [name]Kai[/name] because there’s a little too much alliteration. [name]Slater[/name] sounds too much like “slaughter” for me.
More from various different styles:

[name]Wilder[/name]
Thanks so much guys…I clicked and searched all your great suggestions…and it led me to the name “[name]Zane[/name].” It’s always been a low-key name to me, but suddenly it just stuck out like “duh!” I guess it’s more of a cowboy name, but I could still see it on a beach kid! Plus we are originally from [name]Texas[/name].
The middle name is going to be tricky though! Thanks for all those suggestions, I’m going to look through all of your suggestions again in search for a middle name!!
have you considered the name [name]Bodhi[/name]? i saw that you like brody, bodhi is similar but it definitely has more of a surfer vibe to me. remember that skier bodhi… miller, maybe??? anyway he’s a great skier and skiers usually surf too, right?
