Need advice changing name of 2 month old baby girl!

We named our baby girl [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Ann[/name], however she is two months old now and the name just doesn’t feel right. I hate to change it, yet hate to regret not. Other names we were considering were [name]Isabel[/name] and [name]Audrey[/name]. Yet [name]Isabel[/name] seemed too popular and I feared [name]Audrey[/name] was boring. Our son’s name is [name]Alexander[/name]. Our last name starts with an M and is one syllable. Other names I like are [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Lilly[/name] - however, my husband likes neither of these. Any suggestions on a name?

I love the name [name]Evelyn[/name]! Is it [name]Evelyn[/name] that bothers you or the combination of [name]Evelyn[/name] and [name]Ann[/name]? [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] sounds beautiful to me.

I think [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Ann[/name] is very pretty. Babies change constantly. Two month old babies look and act like their names should all be E.T.

[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Ann[/name] is very nice. I second [name]Danielle[/name] - figure out whether it’s [name]Evelyn[/name] that bothers you, or [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Ann[/name]. Maybe it’s [name]Ann[/name] that is too abrupt with your last name.

If you want to change it: What about another -lyn ending name? [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Madalyn[/name]? [name]Madalyn[/name] [name]Ann[/name] or [name]Angeline[/name], maybe? I think that goes good with the description of your last name.

[name]Evelyn[/name] is gorgeous and sounds great w/ your son’s name! I agree that it would be better to only change the middle name if you feel like you must change her name. I really think [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Ann[/name] is very pretty though!! I’m sure most people wonder “did I go w/ the right name…”

Thanks for the comments thus far. [name]Ann[/name] is a family name and unless it doesn’t go with the first name we choose, it is staying. It is really the [name]Evelyn[/name] I am regretting. I just feel like it might sound too old and not sweet enough!

[name]Do[/name] you call her by any nn? For me [name]Eve[/name] or [name]Evie[/name] sounds more little girlish and sweeter then [name]Evelyn[/name] and then as she gets older she can ‘grow in’ to [name]Evelyn[/name]. I think [name]Evelyn[/name] is a gorgeous choice but it’s your call you have to be happy with the name you choose.

This is probably the funniest and truest comment ever. This made me laugh so hard.
But I really do second what [name]Susan[/name] said. I think [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Ann[/name] is gorgeous, and it will age very well. Plus, you can call her by a nickname for now. [name]Eve[/name] or [name]Evie[/name] is really cute.

If you really regret [name]Evelyn[/name], I love the name [name]Isabel[/name]. I always have.
But, on the other hand, [name]Evelyn[/name] and [name]Alexander[/name] complement each other really nicely because they are both classic, wonderful names.

Good luck, and I hope this helps!

I was wondering about nicknames too…[name]Eve[/name] and [name]Evie[/name] are so cute! You could also use [name]Elin[/name], [name]Lynn[/name] or even [name]Annie[/name]. If you just want to change the name maybe [name]Ellery[/name], [name]Isla[/name] or [name]Avery[/name]?

This is my opinion and you can correct me if I am wrong it is just my opinion, but it sounds like you don’t want to change your daughter’s name. I think you’re just looking for someone to reassure your decision. [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Ann[/name] is such a gorgeous and classic choice. [name]Evelyn[/name] has so many nickname options. You could call her [name]Eve[/name], [name]Evie[/name], Ev, [name]Lyn[/name], etc.

I hope that helps!!

Well, I have a lot to say on this subject! I, too, have a baby girl and I can sympathize with you when you say her name just doesn’t fit. I know exactly what you are talking about. While babies do change quickly, sometimes the name regret is so great, that in your heart you know you have made a mistake. Take your time, if you find a name which suits your baby more than the current name, fabulous. If [name]Evelyn[/name] starts to “fit”, great. It is very, very difficult to choose a name for a person, so don’t beat yourself up.

Thanks for the comments thus far. [name]Ann[/name] is a family name and unless it doesn’t go with the first name we choose, it is staying. It is really the [name]Evelyn[/name] I am regretting. I just feel like it might sound too old and not sweet enough![/quote]

I love the name [name]Evelyn[/name], I think it is a very pretty, feminine name. I would keep it and love it.

I think [name]Evelyn[/name] has some older lady connotations (when I worked in a nursing home, it was full of Evelyns). That being said, this name is sweet and pretty and I think it is due for a major comeback. The name [name]Evie[/name] is starting an upswing, too.

I absolutely love [name]Evelyn[/name]! I think it’s a wonderful choice that your daughter will be happy with. I would leave it alone and call her by a nn or term of endearment for a little while while you’re adjusting to your new baby. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before it will feel right to you.

Thanks everyone for your support on [name]Evelyn[/name]. Still thinking I might change it though. Still like [name]Isabel[/name] better… Although I really want to like [name]Evelyn[/name]. I appreciate all the comments.

[name]Isabelle[/name]/a is a beautiful name I didn’t realise that you liked this name. Go for it, [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Isabelle[/name] flows beautifully and you could just call her by her middle name and if you want [name]Anne[/name] in the mix,.

[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Anne[/name]

Oh boy, can I just mention (don’t throw anything) that there are a gazillion baby [name]Isabelle[/name] / [name]Isobel[/name] / Isabellas being named right now? I umm… ermm… I really think you should stick with [name]Evelyn[/name]. Not that [name]Isabella[/name] isn’t very pretty, but the name is getting beyond popular. Popular isn’t even the word for that name anymore. :frowning:

[name]Evelyn[/name] is just as popular. I think she needs some new suggestions…

Questions for Pink2:

1.What is it about [name]Evelyn[/name] that is bothering you?
2.Would you like to stick with 3 syllables, longer, shorter, etc.?
3.What style of names are you into?
4.Are there any letters/letter combos that you particularly love to see or hear?

Oh, no, with all due respect, I don’t think [name]Evelyn[/name] is as popular as [name]Isabella[/name]… I think [name]Evelyn[/name] is really a dark horse right now, a very pretty name which is about to catch fire again.

[name]Evelyn[/name] is not as popular as [name]Isabel[/name]. Definitely keep her name! It’s a beautiful, girly name!
