Need advice on boys name

My husband and I can not decide on a name. We like Irish names and have an Irish last name.

Our first pick was [name]Killian[/name]. I know it has the word kill in it which does not bother me, because we would call him [name]Killian[/name] not Kill. My concern is that it is similar to the girls name [name]Jillian[/name]. I prefer the traditional spelling [name]Cillian[/name] but my husband won’t agree because people will probably pronounce it Sillian…

Our second choice was [name]Cullen[/name]. We both love it but once I got on google quickly found out it is someone’s name in twilight. Neither one of us new that. By the time he is in school I won’t have to worry about the twilight reference, but I don’t wont twilight fans to think I named him after that movie.

There are other names out there I like such as [name]Connor[/name] [name]Liam[/name] and [name]Declan[/name] but those are too popular now.

Any suggestions?? What do you think of these names??

I like [name]Killian[/name] and I don’t think that it’s a problem that it’s similar to [name]Jillian[/name]. The K sound and the J sound are distinctive enough from each other, plus [name]Jillian[/name]'s really not that popular right now. [name]Killian[/name] is a cool name!

However, if you’re looking for other options, what about:
[name]Callan[/name]
[name]Kyler[/name]
[name]Colin[/name]
[name]Ian[/name]
[name]Finnian[/name]
[name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Angus[/name]
[name]Ciaran[/name]/[name]Kieran[/name]
[name]Adrian[/name]
[name]Keegan[/name]

Good luck! You have some great names picked out (I really like all those that you mentioned except for [name]Cullen[/name]).

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Cillian[/name]! It’s my favourite irish boy name I think. [name]Cillian[/name] [name]Murphy[/name] spells it like this, and I’ve never heard anyone say his name wrong (i’m in the UK though). I also really like [name]Connor[/name].

Other suggestions:
Oisín
[name]Lorcan[/name]
[name]Dermot[/name]
Paidí
[name]Fionn[/name]
[name]Desmond[/name]
Carrick
Daithí

[name]Cillian[/name] [name]Murphy[/name] is hot.

I love [name]Seamus[/name] and [name]Patrick[/name].

Thanks! I love the name [name]Desmond[/name] too, but my husband hates that name and so did a lot of my family, that was my first choice and it goes really good with our last name.

My favorite is [name]Declan[/name] I just love this name! [name]Cullen[/name] is a really nice name too.

Yes to [name]Killian[/name]. Fabulous! [name]Jillian[/name] [name]Murphy[/name] isn’t so famous that everyone’s going to have that association in ten years. With the C spelling, I might be inclined to pronounce it as an S (in the US here.) But I don’t think mispronunciation is necessarily the worst thing- you just correct the pronunciation and move on. My full name has an oddly-placed Y so some people mispronounce it. I don’t mind at all. If you love the look of that C, then you should go for it!
[name]How[/name] about [name]Finnegan[/name] or [name]Seamus[/name]? Ooh la la I think they are heavenly handsome!

I love [name]Killian[/name], and that makes a change because I never normally like ‘k’ names.

Only suggestion was [name]Finn[/name]/[name]Finlay[/name]/[name]Flynn[/name]/[name]Finnigan[/name], or maybe [name]Tierney[/name]/[name]Tiernan[/name], [name]Brogan[/name], [name]Cavan[/name]?

[name]Cillian[/name] is lovely in it’s original Irish format  I don’t think you’d have a problem with the pronunciation. A lot of common ‘c’ names are said with the hard ‘k’ sound e.g [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Clara[/name], [name]Connor[/name], [name]Christopher[/name] etc.

I really like the name [name]Killian[/name] (minus the kill part) and I also like [name]Cullen[/name] (minus the Twilight part) so I can’t help but suggest another Irish name that is basically right in between those two. Have you considered [name]Kellen[/name]/[name]Kellan[/name]? =]

I like the name kellan not sure that I love it, but your right it is kind of a combo of both names!
And I also like [name]Flynn[/name], but couldn’t convince my husband on it. If it was up to him our sons name would be [name]Gage[/name] lol so clearly we have very different tastes in names!

I love the name [name]Killian[/name] and [name]Finnian[/name] too. [name]Desmond[/name] is cool, I’m just not sure I can imagine a little baby with that name and is there a nickname for [name]Desmond[/name]? [name]Cillian[/name] is a really nice boy name, I’ve never heard of it before!

I don’t think [name]Killian[/name]'s similarity to [name]Jillian[/name] is an issue. Personally [name]Killian[/name] sounds very masculine to me and it doesn’t remind me of [name]Jillian[/name] at all. Maybe if [name]Jillian[/name] was super popular it would, but maybe because it is such an underused name it doesn’t seem too. [name]Cullen[/name] is the last name from the characters from Twilight, and unfortunately spiked in popularity because of the books. It is still not nearly as popular as [name]Jacob[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], [name]Isabella[/name] etc, and people will probably forget [name]Cullen[/name]'s linked to the movies/books soon enough. If you really love it, I say go for it. I also like [name]Kieran[/name], [name]Kellen[/name], [name]Ian[/name] and [name]Sullivan[/name].
