Need Advice on Twin Boy Names ASAP!

My husband and I are due with twins (our firsts) any day now. We’re not positive of the gender yet but know that they’re the same, meaning it’s either girl + girl or boy + boy. We’ve got our girl names ready but feel less confident about our boy names. Would love your opinions on our current name selections and combos and any other name ideas you might have!

Note that while it’s important that the names work well together, I also want them to stand on their own as well.

I really love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Roman[/name_m]. I don’t mind [name_m]Mack[/name_m] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] but am not as crazy about them. My husband is basically the exact opposite.

[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] are my favorites, too. I also like [name_m]Roman[/name_m] (although I personally prefer [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], but I do think [name_m]Roman[/name_m] goes great with [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]!). [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] would easily get my vote, but I do like [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] or [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_m]Roman[/name_m], too. (Or maybe something like [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Roman[/name_m]? I think those would be super handsome!)

I think my favorite first name pair would be [name_m]Roman[/name_m] and [name_u]August[/name_u], very cute and I like [name_u]Gus[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_u]August[/name_u].

I love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_m]Mack[/name_m], or [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_u]August[/name_u]. That way, both of you get a name you really love.

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_u]August[/name_u] are also very handsome together.

The only two I don’t like together at all are [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u], as the beginning sounds rhyme.

You’ve got some lovely names on your list!

My personal favourite combos for twins would be [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] or [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_m]Roman[/name_m]. Those just seem to go really nicely together while not being “matchy” at all.

Not sure when you’re due but I have always thought it would be cool to name one of a boy/boy twin set [name_m]Castor[/name_m] if they were born in [name_u]June[/name_u], after [name_m]Castor[/name_m] and [name_m]Pollux[/name_m], the twin brothers of the constellation [name_u]Gemini[/name_u]

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_u]August[/name_u] for sure. Excellent pairing! Not a fan of [name_m]Mack[/name_m]. [name_u]Luca[/name_u] seems boring next to the other choices.

(Note: I’m new to this forum so hopefully I’m responding correctly!)

My faves so far are:

I like [name_u]August[/name_u] + [name_m]Roman[/name_m] but worry that they share too much of a historical history (i.e. [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] Emperor). [name_f]Do[/name_f] you agree?

And I like [name_u]Luca[/name_u] too but neither one of us is Italian or [name_m]French[/name_m] or anything like that so I wonder if it seems sort of random.

I guess my least favorite name out of all of these is [name_m]Mack[/name_m].

Some of you mentioned [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] + [name_u]Gus[/name_u] being a great combo and I couldn’t agree more, except that my husband prefers the nickname Auggie for [name_u]August[/name_u]. I like Auggie also but [name_u]Gus[/name_u] is pretty darn cute so I’m torn there as well.

In general, I think my concern is that [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] + [name_u]August[/name_u] sound sort of similar. Maybe it’s all the Us and Gs? Whereas [name_m]Roman[/name_m] might add some nice balance to it.

@ashthedreamer [name_u]Love[/name_u] the idea of incorporating some of these names into middle names and the ones you mentioned are super handsome indeed! But we plan on using the middle names as a way to honor my grandmothers who’s names began with M and G. So for middle names, we’re thinking [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] (my grandmother was [name_f]Grayce[/name_f]) and [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Mack[/name_m] (my grandmother was [name_f]Muriel[/name_f] and went by [name_u]Mickey[/name_u]). I think these middle names work well and sound similar enough to [name_f]Grayce[/name_f] and [name_u]Mickey[/name_u] although I’m a little less sold on the [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Mack[/name_m].

@yuma Very cool idea. There’s a store in NYC called [name_m]Castor[/name_m] & [name_m]Pollux[/name_m]. Never realized that’s what it was named after. Unfortunately, I’m not due anywhere near then! I’m actually due within the next two weeks! [name_m]Hence[/name_m] the urgency for name advice!

@mrsaceituno Thank you! For girl names, I really like the more old-fashioned (i.e. “old lady”) names. Our short list there included [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. We’re going with [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f].
