Need Advice

Boy Names

We are team green with 4 weeks to go and having a tough time with boy names. DH and I both love [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] but… DH’s second cousin has a boy named [name_m]Hayes[/name_m]. They would also have the same last name. Part of me thinks this wouldn’t be a big deal since they live 9 hours away from us and I have never met them. The children would likely never see each other.

What are your opinions on this? We also have [name_m]Miller[/name_m], [name_m]Weston[/name_m], and [name_m]Nash[/name_m] on our list but don’t really love any of them.

If you don’t mind using a name that you know someone else had used, then you should absolutely use it. I only say it that way because I personally have some weird hangups about it. Are you only questioning it because you know a little [name_m]Hayes[/name_m], or because you’re worried about what other people might say? Does it just kind of bug you that you wouldn’t be the first in the family to use it? I think you’re right, it wouldn’t be a big deal at all.

[name_m]Nash[/name_m] and [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] [name_f]Grier[/name_f], as in the brothers that do [name_m]Vine[/name_m] videos or just a coincidence? I would ask your husband’s cousin if they have a problem which you using the name for your son because doing it without asking could cause an upset. [name_m]Weston[/name_m] is my favourite on your list.

Must be a coincidence because I have no idea who those brothers are. I’ve honesty never talked to his cousin. They might not even know who I am LOL. DH’s extended family isn’t very close.

Personally I would choose something else. Someone or ones in his family will likely be following the lives of both boys as you share pictures and updates etc. If they didn’t have the same last name too, but i just think there are so many names out there (here is a great source at your fingertips), why not find another name you both love?

Since you said they probably don’t know who you are and you probably will never meet… I’d use it! If you never end up meeting them you will probably regret not using your first choice for that reason. If you were close, or would see each other even once a year, I would say you might want to think of another name, but as you described it, I think it’s fine to use [name_m]Hayes[/name_m].
