need an name for jordan & jaidyn's new sibling...

I have two daughters, one is [name]Jordan[/name] [name]Elaine[/name], one is [name]Jaidyn[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I am pregnant with a third, not sure if it’s a boy or girl yet. If it is a girl, I would like to stick with a similar sounding name… if it is a boy, I am leaning towards [name]Giovanni[/name] or [name]Roman[/name], with a middle name of [name]Isaiah[/name]. Daddy likes the name [name]Odin[/name] so far, it’s one of the few ideas he has had… any suggestions? Thanks!

[name]Abigail[/name] nn [name]Abby[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name] or [name]Charline[/name] or [name]Charlize[/name]

[name]Tobin[/name] nn [name]Toby[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name] nn [name]Zac[/name]

Of your existing boy choices, I like [name]Roman[/name] [name]Isaiah[/name] the best. All three of the first names share a sound with your girls’ names, but [name]Roman[/name] sounds best with [name]Isaiah[/name] to me. If you’re willing to go with a different middle name…

[name]Odin[/name] combos:
[name]Odin[/name] [name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Odin[/name] [name]Tobias[/name]
[name]Odin[/name] [name]Levi[/name]
[name]Odin[/name] [name]Jacob[/name]
[name]Odin[/name] [name]James[/name]

[name]Giovanni[/name] combos:
[name]Giovanni[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Giovanni[/name] [name]Tobias[/name]
[name]Giovanni[/name] [name]Aaron[/name]

Hmm, maybe [name]Odin[/name] [name]Isaiah[/name] and [name]Giovanni[/name] [name]Isaiah[/name] sound pretty good after my suggestions!

Here are some other boy names you might like (I know these are really all over the place):

For a girl:
[name]Janna[/name] (reminds me of [name]Gianna[/name])
[name]Jacqueline[/name] / [name]Jaclyn[/name]

Middle name possibilities:

Some of my favorite combos are [name]Jocelyn[/name] [name]Emma[/name], [name]Jasmine[/name] [name]Eileen[/name], [name]Jaelen[/name] [name]Emily[/name]

Once you start the alliteration thing, it’s hard to stop… because then you run the risk of making the non-J named kids feel left out among all the others. You may be able to get away with naming a boy with a different starting letter, and keep the girls and boys alphabetically separate, but still the one boy with an “O” name may feel left out amongst girls with “J” names. You’re also dealing with ending alliteration (-inn sounds) and the same number of syllables.

Kids will mostly get used to whatever situation they’re put in, of course, so it’s never a massive concern… but for me, I’d want to avoid contributing to a child’s feeling left out among the others.

So that logic would make [name]Justin[/name] a good boy choice, with [name]Jocelyn[/name] (esp. if you pronounce it joss-lynn instead of joss-eh-lynn) and [name]Jasmine[/name] being very close for girls. There, you have two-syllable names starting with the same letter and ending with the same sound. I think on parentsconnect’s baby names site, you can search by starting letter(s) ending letter(s) and number of syllables (among other criteria of course), so that would be a great resource for you in building your list of options.
