[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all, I’m in need of some boy name help.
DH and I have been in love with the name [name_u]Logan[/name_u] for our future son since we were six months into dating and it’s one of the few names we both agree on. However, as comes with the risk of falling for a popular name years before having kids, my cousin just had her newest baby and named him [name_u]Logan[/name_u]. While we’re not close to her, it’s definitely no longer a name we can use. So, we’re back to the drawing board. (We’re not pregnant yet, just planners.)
Here is a list of some of the boys names we have discussed and vetoed for one reason or another:
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] “[name_m]Gabe[/name_m]” - this was my husband’s favorite name, but his sister used it for her son.
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] - too common
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] - I love it; my husband raised an eyebrow at it
[name_m]Clark[/name_m] - husband loves the Superman reference; all I can think of is [name_m]Clark[/name_m] Griswold
[name_m]Troy[/name_m] - too High School Musical
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] - my husband’s childhood dog was [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] and our good friends just named their son [name_u]Theo[/name_u]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] - neither of us like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] or [name_u]Elias[/name_u]; ‘[name_m]Eli[/name_m]’ got the same treatment as ‘[name_m]Gabe[/name_m]’ did
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] - he likes it for a boy, I prefer it for a girl
[name_u]Chase[/name_u] - I like this, but it was an elementary school bully for my husband
The only boy name besides [name_u]Logan[/name_u] we can agree on is [name_m]Luke[/name_m], but we aren’t as excited about it. We’d love some new names to marinate on. An additional hurdle is that our last name ends with a hard -ett sound, so names like [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], and [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] are out.
In case it helps, our three combos for future daughters are [name_u]Parker[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f], and [name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] (all honor middles, as will be the case for the boys).
I’ve been a long time lurker and you all always provide such great advice I figured I’d finally make an account and ask for some of my own.
I see all your choices for a baby girl are unisex names, perhaps you might consider one of these for a boy? I agree [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is nicer as a girls name but the others I think would work, though maybe the [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] spelling would be better.
If you both like [name_m]Eli[/name_m] but not [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] or [name_u]Elias[/name_u], I would go straight to [name_m]Eli[/name_m] as I don’t think it needs a longer name. Maybe you would like [name_u]Ari[/name_u] too?
