Weaks : She’s not physically strong & She’s insecure .
Family :

Period : 2013

Any ideas ??

thanks in advance

Edit : Harlow or Clary ?

A photo with a girl looking similar like in my story

[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]

Thank you @evangelinelilypotter  .I would have never thought about [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]. I think it’s very cool and interesting .I think it fits my character in looks but I don’t know inside. Doesn’t make too much sense, right?? :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyone else ??

I agree with [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]. It’s strange and perfect. A little too close to [name_f]Anwen[/name_f] though.

I like [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] best for her. [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] feels warm. Foreign but recognizable. I think it’s perfect.

Good luck with your story.

@irmgard+theodorian : thank you  I love your suggestions !! Espessially [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] & [name_u]Auden[/name_u] !! I agree with you about [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] . I like it but i think that it might is too strong for my shy & fragile character . thanks again .

If your character is rather soft spoken and reserved, then I think [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] would really be great for her. [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] feels like a whisper, but spoken with strength it might be a roar.

I think you are right . the more i think it the more i like [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] for the character . I think i have a name !! Any middle suggestions for [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] ?

I think you should pair [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] with something classic, like you did with the other characters, but still, keeping it short. [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Edda[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. If you want to go a little more out there [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f], maybe even [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]/[name_f]Zora[/name_f] could work.

As for other names that could fit her, I think [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] and [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] could probably go on the list. Maybe something Greek sounding, like [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] or [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], or any other goddess name you can think of.

[name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] sounds good to me!

@cilesuns92 : thank you :slight_smile: I really like [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] & [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] & [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]!! I think [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] suits her very well. I love [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] but I can’t picture it on a red haired one. I like the idea about using a goddesses name. I think [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] or [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] or [name_f]Saga[/name_f] might fit her.

Iam btw 2 names : Zenobia " Zoe " or Harlow .

What do you think ?

Other names are also welcome.

@moondust : you reply while I reply  thanks for the suggestion  I like [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a combo but i’am not sure about [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a middle.

It depends heavily on the genre, setting, etc. You should know your characters as well as you know yourself, or better. Know the details. Go in-depth. Give reasons and explanations for why they’re who they are. Their name depends on era, culture, and overall who their parents/guardians were. Also, I don’t know, but I don’t think you can ‘become’ an introvert. Again, I’m not sure.

Is this fantasy? Steampunk? Sci-fi? Cyberpunk? If steampunk, is it a more Victorian or Western setting? If fantasy, more Medieval or similar to some other era? If sci-fi/cyberpunk, is it more futuristic and technologically advanced, post-apocalyptic, or primitive (also, futuristic doesn’t necessarily mean advanced, people just often go with that.)? What’s the culture? It all depends on factors like these. In a Medieval setting, Welsh and Cornish names like [name_f]Anwen[/name_f], Athwenna, [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], [name_m]Gawain[/name_m], Morwen, Aneirin, etc., would probably be common, depending on what the language and country it is most similar to. In a futuristic or steampunk setting, pretty much any more common name would do, but it also just depends on what you like. Also, do their parents choose names based on personal things, like where the child was born, what meanings they like, or just the sound of it? Or, do meanings have significance due to culture or moral standards/doctrine? (For example, Native Americans often named children after things that were around them when they were born or after spirits.) In short, culture, family, history, language, religion, etc., all factor into naming a character depending on the genre. If this is fantasy/fiction, wordbuilding is the most fun part.

You could also go by hair-color. Look up names that mean ‘red’ or ‘fragile’ or are related to the character. What suits her? What rolls off the tongue, or just clicks?

[name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]/[name_m]Rowyn[/name_m]/[name_f]Rowena[/name_f], [name_f]Roisin[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosheen[/name_f], [name_m]Flannan[/name_m]/[name_u]Flannery[/name_u]/[name_m]Flann[/name_m], [name_f]Clary[/name_f], Ruad, [name_m]Ruadhan[/name_m], etc., are all related to red hair or the color red. ‘[name_f]Willow[/name_f]’ could be a name for someone who’s willowy or sylphlike or delicate. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Violetta[/name_f] might also make you think of ‘Shy violet’ or ‘wallflower’.

Basically, just go with what both makes sense and what you like.

@thebibliophile : thanks  the story is modern . Its set on now . And from your name list you give me the winner  . thanks for the information . Lots to know about. .it’s my first time in write a story and I feel lost. I have imagine it on my mind. But I cant express them to the paper.

I have decide on [name_f]Clary[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] . thanks all of you for help

I will choose the middle later. I want to have a personal significance like Anwen’s middle has.

If you have any other middle ideas for Clary please tell me

I’m glad I could help!

Hm… [name_f]Clary[/name_f] Peregreen… [name_m]Just[/name_m] go with what you think sounds and fits best. [name_f]Clary[/name_f] is a cute name and makes me think of an Irish or Scottsmen, and Peregreen kind of makes me think of Everdeen and [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] combined. You could do something elegant like [name_f]Clary[/name_f] [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f], or something more quaint like [name_f]Clary[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] or [name_f]Clary[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f], or both by doing something like [name_f]Clary[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Clary[/name_f] [name_f]Noreen[/name_f]. You could also be eccentric–perhaps give your character a flaw–and make her have a strange or unattractive family name, like [name_f]Clary[/name_f] Eldritch or [name_f]Clary[/name_f] Bigelow. Characters should definitely have flaws, whether it be a name or a trait or a physical, cosmetic flaw. (Warts, coarse/thick eyebrows, height or lack thereof, excessive or diminutive weight, etc.)

I think [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is absolutely darling!

Some others I would consider are
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] (nickname [name_f]Liliah[/name_f])
[name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] (nickname [name_f]Hattie[/name_f])
[name_f]Kira[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] (I knew a redhead named [name_f]Kira[/name_f], and I adore the name… And her hair.)
[name_f]Kate[/name_f] or [name_f]Katie[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] (the first name could be short for [name_f]Kathrine[/name_f] if you wanted)
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_u]Avery[/name_u] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] Caire (nickname [name_f]Cassie[/name_f])

And as for [name_f]Clary[/name_f]… I wouldn’t use that. The Mortal Instrument Series has a red head named [name_f]Clary[/name_f]. Same colour as the girl in the picture.

Thank you for commenting

@thebibliophili : thank you very much. You help a lot. I like the idea of giving her a flaw but I dont know if I wanted to be on the name. I want her to have a memorable name like other book characters ( [name_f]Katniss[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] etc) . I have still plenty of time to decide. Today we have a writing class at school and I figure I dont know anything lol.
@boogabay : thanks  I have heard the book you mention but I haven’t read it. It’s not like I will publish the book lol.but I pretty much agree with what you are saying. I love [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] ( hate [name_f]Claire[/name_f]) & [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] from your suggestions.

I think iam btw [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]/[name_f]Rose[/name_f] & [name_f]Clary[/name_f] ??? .

PS : if I go with [name_f]Clary[/name_f] her middle name would propably be something strange family name.

Maybe you could use a strange family name for [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]'s middle?

I am in love with [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], and I think it would suit your character perfectly.
