Hello all! My husband and I are having the hardest time coming up with potential girl names. We’ve decided to use [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] as the middle name to honor a family member but can’t agree on a first name; nothing really sticks out to us. We like traditional, classic names and the only girl choice that we’ve written down is [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (but we’re not entirely sold on that one yet). Our boy name choices are [name_u]Jesse[/name_u], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], and [name_u]James[/name_u].
With [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] as the middle name, I think it needs a bold, classic, 2 or 3 syllable name, but I’m having trouble coming up with one I like. I’m not good at choosing names either. We didn’t have a middle name for our daughter until about a week before she was born.
Are you guys open to using [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] as the first name, but calling her by a middle name? I feel like it’d be easier to pair a middle name with [name_f]Jenny[/name_f], than a first name. As a first name, it pairs easily with one or two syllable names. If you like [name_f]Rose[/name_f], maybe name her [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but just call her [name_f]Rose[/name_f]? It’s just my opinion, but it seems there’s more options that sound pleasant with [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] as the first name.
Of course it’s your child, so anything you name her will be perfect!
[name_u]Jesse[/name_u], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]… you seem to like short, spunky, retro names and simple classics. Suggestions:
[name_f]Jenny[/name_f] used to be used as nickname for [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. If you like [name_f]Rose[/name_f], the name [name_f]Jane[/name_f] may appeal to you. I just thought I’d offer this in case it inspired any possibilities.
I agree that [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] is tricky as a middle name! We’d much rather have a name that doesn’t flow as well than call our little one by her middle name (my dad goes by his middle name and it can get confusing). And we figure her middle name won’t be used much at all so if her whole name doesn’t flow the best, then so be it. Thanks so much for your input, though! Who knew naming a baby would be so complicated, haha?!
Thanks for your suggestions! I actually started warming up to [name_f]Julia[/name_f] yesterday but wasn’t sure how it would flow with [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] so I’m glad someone else thought of it, too!

Plus, the “original” [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] was such a unique and special person that we don’t want to put that kind of pressure on the kid but rather honor in a more subtle way. Thanks! [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] is actually our #1 followed by [name_m]Caleb[/name_m].
I really like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] but my husband isn’t sold on it. I think [name_f]Nova[/name_f] is sweet and interesting but not sure if he’d go for that one either—worth a shot to bring it up, though! Thanks for your input!
Funnily enough, [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] is a family name for me too. I have wondered about using it for a middle name should I ever have a second daughter, so I have following this thread with interest.
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] is one I have considered myself, so I was pleased to see it suggested by a few people. I think [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] goes really well with [name_u]Jesse[/name_u], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] and [name_u]James[/name_u].
I also like the sound of [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Jenny[/name_f]. That would give you two J names ans two C names, which is nicely symmetrical (though I don’t know if you think a fifth baby is likely).
And I really liked a previous poster’s suggestion of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jenny[/name_f]. So spunky!
I personally would avoid a third J name, so [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] isn’t the odd man out. But I think this is the sort of thing only Berries care about.
You like [name_f]Rose[/name_f], so how about…
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] “[name_f]Rose[/name_f]”
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] “[name_f]Rose[/name_f]”
[name_f]Rosanna[/name_f] [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] “[name_f]Rose[/name_f]”
[name_f]Roselina[/name_f] [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] “[name_f]Rose[/name_f]”
I love [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] and [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] by the way! Two great and not overused names!
I like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] mentioned by pp. I also think [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] is cute. Would you consider using [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]? It might be a little easier to pair. I also like the idea of [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as double middles.
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] isn’t a name I would’ve considered before but it is an interesting choice and one that might make it on our list as well! We have a niece named [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] so that one is off the table for us—but I do love it!
