[name]Hi[/name]! We are at an impasse with names for our baby girl due to arrive in about 9 weeks. My husband loves the names [name]Lily[/name], [name]Lila[/name] and [name]Isla[/name]. I think they are all very pretty, but can’t seem to move past the soaring popularity. Our last name is [name]Ventura[/name]…to me, [name]Isla[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] sounds like either a waterpark or a Carnival cruise line! We’ve also batted [name]Dahlia[/name] around for a while, but it never seems to flow freely. At this point, we’d just love some fresh suggestions!
[name]Just[/name] to give you an idea of the names we’ve discussed (new names are definitely welcome and encouraged!):
[name]Juniper[/name], [name]Coralie[/name], [name]Eulalie[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name]/[name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name] for possible middle names.
With [name]Ventura[/name], it seems that names ending with -y sound flow best. So I really like the following:
[name]Lily[/name] - if you can get past the popularity. It really is a lovely name
[name]Calliope[/name] - kind of a funny mix of heritages there, but I like the spunk of [name]Calliope[/name]
[name]Mirabelle[/name] - rather than -bella ending, this is a pretty name
[name]Elodie[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this! [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Juniper[/name] [name]Ventura[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] - too many Vs
[name]Vivienne[/name] - the same number of V’s but these are at the beginning. Could work if you really like it. [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Coralie[/name] [name]Ventura[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] - ok. [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Juniper[/name] or [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Coralie[/name] are nice.
Would you consider [name]Beatrix[/name] for the first name? [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Mirabelle[/name] [name]Ventura[/name]
Your surname has 3 syllables and alot of your names have 3 or more syllables so I agree with Gwensmom that you need to choose a name ending in something other than “a” " [name]Lily[/name], [name]Mirabel[/name], [name]Elodie[/name], [name]Calliope[/name] or [name]Josephine[/name] would be my choices. [name]Lily[/name] [name]Juniper[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] is my fave combo. Would you consider shorter middle names? [name]Mirabel[/name] [name]Grace[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Iris[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] or [name]Calliope[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] would all be awesome combinations.
Thank you both! I realize now that we’ve been focusing too much on names ending with -a. I like [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Juniper[/name], [name]Lily[/name] [name]Juniper[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Calliope[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (though it reminds me a bit of Calamity [name]Jane[/name]! ).
Are there names we haven’t considered that you’d suggest with [name]Ventura[/name]?
[name]Ventura[/name] is a great Spanish surname so I’m surprised that you’re not going with a Latino name. Was that intentional? Some names that I think would be wonderful are [name]Noemi[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Soledad[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Lucero[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Consuelo[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Inez[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Abril[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Beatriz[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] (instead of [name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Beatrix[/name]), Haydee [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Araceli[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Marisol[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Luz[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Matilde[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Nieves[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Guadalupe[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Dolores[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Amparo[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Dulce[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Milagros[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Paz[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Clio[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Leonor[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Rosario[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Carmen[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Cielo[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], Maricruz [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Nayeli[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Lourdes[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Mercedes[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Pilar[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Monserrat[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Odalys[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Milagros[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Raquel[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Rocio[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] or [name]Nazaret[/name] [name]Ventura[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you care for any of these names? Goodness, it’s hard to find a Spanish girls name that doesn’t end in “a”!!! . All the best!
I liked [name]Calliope[/name] out of your choices, but have to say that I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Abril[/name] and [name]Marisol[/name] and to a lesser extent [name]Rosario[/name] out of mischa’s suggestions. I think [name]Abril[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] is a a strong, unique name. Easy to spell and pronounce, and [name]Abril[/name] goes so well with the strong vibe your last name gives. But that’s just my two cents.
Thank you! The funny thing with [name]Ventura[/name] is that neither one of us is Spanish. My husband is from southern [name]Italy[/name], so the Venturas must have crossed over from Spain at some point many generations back. But his family (on both sides) is very Italian.
I like [name]Isabel[/name], [name]Beatriz[/name], [name]Matilde[/name], [name]Clio[/name] and [name]Pilar[/name] from [name]Mischa[/name]'s suggestions. I also like [name]Abril[/name] written, but not sure about it when I say it out loud.
After discussing it further with my husband, I think we’re both searching for a feminine, vintage, possibly french name to lend more of a multicultural vibe with [name]Ventura[/name].
I should also mention that I do have some beautiful names in my family that could be considered:
[name]Josephine[/name] - grandmother
[name]Mary[/name] - grandmother
[name]Matilda[/name] ([name]Tillie[/name]) - great aunt
[name]Emma[/name] - great aunt
Thanks again for all your suggestions so far, they are greatly appreciated!
You know, I probably wouldn’t go for a name ending in -a with a last name like [name]Ventura[/name]. I’d keep it crisp and clean, but fun. I’m talking something like [name]Anais[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Celine[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Giselle[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Iris[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Margo[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Noelle[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Romy[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Reese[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], [name]Simone[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], and [name]Violet[/name] [name]Ventura[/name].
I’ll just throw out there that [name]Iris[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] is probably my favorite! It’s vintage yet fun and modern, and it’s definitely not a chart-climber, so you’ll be on the cutting edge of naming! After that, I’d go with [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Ventura[/name]. [name]Love[/name] it! Whimsy and feminine all in one sweet package - it’s also got that French feel you like…
Oh [name]Lemon[/name], so many beautiful names! Crisp, clean and fun is exactly what we’re looking for. My favorites from your list are [name]Anais[/name], [name]Celine[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Giselle[/name], [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Violet[/name]. I’ve always loved [name]Violet[/name], but my only concern with [name]Violet[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] is that I see Violent [name]Ventura[/name]. Does anyone else see that, or am I losing it? I’m going to keep [name]Iris[/name] in the back of my mind too, I like it but it’s just not settling with me just yet.
What do you think of [name]Sabine[/name], [name]Saffron[/name], Pomeline, [name]Sophie[/name]-[name]Anne[/name] or [name]Sophie[/name]-[name]Claire[/name]? Too much with [name]Ventura[/name]?
[name]Mischa[/name], you’re amazing! French names have always appealed to me and my husband grew up in [name]Italy[/name] and Montreal so he has always loved French names as well. Thank you once again for putting so much thought into your suggestions. There are so many on here that I like, particularly:
[name]Anais[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Gisele[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Eulalie[/name]
[name]Mireille[/name]
[name]Madeleine[/name]
[name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Leonie[/name]
[name]Coralie[/name] (has been on my list for a while!)
[name]Sophie[/name] (love, especially with [name]Sophie[/name]-[name]Anne[/name] or [name]Sophie[/name]-[name]Claire[/name])
[name]Noemie[/name]
[name]Violette[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Juniper[/name] is such a fun name! [name]Amelie[/name] is beautiful and I don’t think my husband is ready to let [name]Lily[/name] go

To me, [name]Saffron[/name] and Pomeline are too much. [name]Sophie[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] sounds off to me - maybe I’m hearing something others aren’t?
As for [name]Violet[/name] [name]Ventura[/name], I don’t see violent in [name]Violet[/name], but I’ve heard that complaint before. I just think it’s a gorgeous name! I think, if you like [name]Sophie[/name], you might particularly like [name]Celine[/name] “[name]Celie[/name]” [name]Ventura[/name]. I adore the nickname [name]Celie[/name] [see-lee] for [name]Celine[/name], [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Celia[/name], and [name]Cecily[/name]!
Sorry for the number of posts lately, but thank you all so much for the helpful suggestions! With 8 weeks to go, (and an ever-changing list) these are the names that my husband and I (mostly) agree on:
We are looking for something not terribly common, with an international twist and good nickname potential. Mostly, we’re searching for something with sparkle (as [name]Lemon[/name] said, crisp and clean, but fun)! Please let us know your thoughts and, as always, alternate suggestions are always welcome.
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - I like this one
[name]Sophie[/name]-[name]Claire[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - [name]Love[/name] the combo [name]Sophie[/name]-[name]Claire[/name]. You would be using both names, I hope?
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this name but there are alot of V’s in it. [name]Mireille[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - [name]Mireille[/name] is so soft and feminine. [name]Love[/name] it!
[name]Dahlia[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - OK
[name]Lila[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - [name]Lily[/name] would be better.
[name]Coraline[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - [name]Coraline[/name] is beautiful but there are alot of syllables! [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - Very nice [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - See [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - Yes, this is lovely! [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - OH, gorgeous! This name is my fave from your list! [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - [name]Love[/name] it
[name]Arabella[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - Not too crazy about all of the a’s
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - Not a fan of [name]Calliope[/name]. [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] would be nice. What do you think?
[name]Cosette[/name] [name]Ventura[/name] - Too cutesy although I don’t mind [name]Colette[/name] [name]Ventura[/name].
