So we’re due in a month and haven’t locked down a name yet. I have decided on [name]Cheyenne[/name] (thanks to you name-berries) as a MN because it perfectly combines my mother and [name]MIL[/name]'s names [name]Dianne[/name] and [name]Charlene[/name]. I tend to like feminine, different but not too out there names. I’ve noticed I like names with a “y” in them or ending in “a” with the MN chosen. I’d like to stay off the top 50 if possible. For sure the top 20. My favorite name so far is [name]Layla[/name] but, I’m hesitant because it’s at #33 even though I have never met one myself.
Here is my list. Somewhat in order of favorites, at least the first couple. Let me know your thoughts and if you have other suggestions.
I love [name]Calla[/name] and [name]Indigo[/name] and I think they go perfect with [name]Cheyenne[/name] as a mn! [name]Layla[/name] is beautiful, but I understand your concern. I only know one [name]Layla[/name] though, and she’s in her 20’s.
I think I am stuck on [name]Layla[/name] because I’ve read it means “dark haired beauty”… [name]Baby[/name] girl will likely have dark hair but a small possibility of red… DH has red in his beard. Lol.
[name]Layla[/name], [name]Ivy[/name], and [name]Calla[/name] are my favorites!
If you love [name]Layla[/name], I would use it and not worry terribly about its popularity. #33 is not exactly top ten!
I would avoid names like [name]Layla[/name], [name]Lylah[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name] because the combos looks heavy with y’s. Any of the names below sound and look good with [name]Cheyenne[/name]. [name]Even[/name] though the combos would be 2-2 syllables, I like [name]Calla[/name] and [name]Kira[/name] the best.
I think [name]Cheyenne[/name] is enough to honor them both. [name]Even[/name] though it starts with a C it sounds a lot like [name]Dianne[/name]. I’d rather pick a name I love for her first name.
I am pretty sure its between [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Layla[/name] still. Might just have to wait and see her for the final. Thanks everyone for help again!
[name]Layla[/name] [name]Cheyenne[/name] - I like the name and I like the song. For me it kind of blends in with other popular names that are similar, [name]Leah[/name], [name]Lilly[/name], [name]Lilianne[/name], [name]Lylah[/name] etc and it looses some of its spark.
[name]Lylah[/name] [name]Cheyenne[/name] - Prefer [name]Layla[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Cheyenne[/name] - I really like [name]Ivy[/name]. Classy, short and vintage.
[name]Coralie[/name] [name]Cheyenne[/name] - Like this name and love the nn [name]Cora[/name].
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Cheyenne[/name] - I like this name. Definitely a good choice. Only downfall is that is doesn’t roll off the tongue nicely.
[name]Kira[/name] [name]Cheyenne[/name] - I prefer [name]Kiera[/name]. [name]Kira[/name] is nice, but doesn’t even come close to the loveliness of [name]Kiera[/name].
[name]Indigo[/name] [name]Cheyenne[/name] - I really like it, but it is a bit too “out there” for me.
[name]Calla[/name] [name]Cheyenne[/name] - Not bad, not as nice as some of the other names on your list.
If I had to choose one of these names I would go with: [name]Aurora[/name]!
I have almost the identical concerns you do. I think [name]Aurora[/name] is lovely but it doesnt roll off the tongue as nicely. I agree about [name]Indigo[/name] too… I’m not sure I have the courage to attempt that one but something about it I love but will probably never use. [name]Love[/name] the nn [name]Indie[/name] though.
I like [name]Kira[/name] [name]Cheyenne[/name] most… but since you like 'y’s… why don’t you spell it [name]Kyra[/name] [name]Cheyenne[/name] instead? Same pn.
I really like [name]Cheyenne[/name], and I think it’s great how you are honoring her Grandmothers! My favorite is [name]Layla[/name] followed by [name]Aurora[/name]. Best wishes to you and your family!
