I like [name]Delilah[/name], I don’t care for snow unless its a middle name
Congratulations on your daughter!
[name]Indigo[/name]: a pretty color, and a dye with some interesting history behind its cultural significance and cultivation. Nice sound with the trendy -o ending. However, to me it’s rather insubstantial, despite all of the above.
[name]Delilah[/name]: I agree with previous posters; I think of the biblical bad girl and don’t find the name appealing. There’s also the late-night radio host who sounds like she just downed a bottled of red wine and a handful of Xanax before she goes on the air.
[name]Sahara[/name]: I think only of the desert, with it’s proper name… however, if you go with the original Arabic/Persian name [name]Sahar[/name] (prn sa-HAHR), then you absolutely unequivocally have my vote. It means ‘east, sunrise’ and I love how exotic, evocative, yet accessible it is. In the ‘Abrahamic world’ [i.e. Judeo-[name]Christian[/name], Muslim] east has great cultural and religious significance and I love the imagery of a new dawn / sunrise for a new baby.
[name]Eden[/name]: pretty, obviously evocative, but it’s become unfortunately very trashy.
[name]Snow[/name]: despite the TV fairy tale show, this is not a name I could ever see working on an actual human person.
[name]Zenna[/name]: diminutive of [name]Zenobia[/name], who was a bad-ass ancient queen. I really like it, esp with her as a namesake.
[name]Pola[/name]: ‘pole’ is too prominent. I like [name]Paola[/name] (nice exotic twist on [name]Paula[/name]), or [name]Polina[/name] (likewise), but not [name]Pola[/name].
Rank:
- [name]Sahar[/name] / [name]Zahara[/name]
- [name]Zenna[/name]
- [name]Paola[/name] / [name]Polina[/name]
- [name]Indigo[/name]
would not use [name]Eden[/name], [name]Snow[/name] or [name]Delilah[/name].
Combinations: [name]Sahar[/name] [name]Polina[/name], [name]Paola[/name] [name]Sahar[/name], [name]Zenna[/name] [name]Indigo[/name], [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Sahar[/name]…
trashy? really? I’ve never even met a woman with this name before. Who on earth has used it that made it trashy? It’s a biblical place name, so to me it’s like a slightly more modern [name]Bethany[/name].
I agree with kala_way… not sure how ‘trashy’ comes with the name [name]Eden[/name] except for some suggestions of it being so on this site… I know of 2 Edens and both are beautiful little girls. I get more of an earthy/hippy/nature vibe than any trashy element. Also it boasts the adorable nn [name]Edie[/name].
I like [name]Delilah[/name] and [name]Eden[/name]. I like them the best just because I like more traditional feminine sounding names. (At least for a first name). There are some “unique” names that I love but I would personally use them as a middle name.
Seems like you guys all picked our top name [name]Delilah[/name] [name]Snow[/name] without even realizing it.
Thank you
[name]Love[/name] love love indigo. My hubby would not have it. [name]Indie[/name] i such a neat name. I would have used in a heart beat.
These are just opinions. Pretty vs trashy, boring vs historically relevant, etc…
[name]Indigo[/name]: NMS. I would be very wary of using the name given the history of its cultivation and importation by [name]England[/name] into Europe.
[name]Delilah[/name]: It sounds beautiful, but I just think of the Biblical character…which isn’t the best namesake.
[name]Sahara[/name]: This spelling reminds me of the desert. I like [name]Zahara[/name] (which is also desert) but isn’t as evocative.
Also, I know someone with this name who’s finishing her M.S. in computer science at [name]Stanford[/name], so I picture a smart, spunky, outgoing girl who isn’t afraid of boys.
[name]Eden[/name]: NMS. I don’t why, but it seems trashy to me as well. I picture someone too much fake gold jewelry and tight, hot pink Juicy Couture sweats. I don’t know anyone with the name though.
[name]Snow[/name]: middle name.
[name]Zenna[/name]: Reminds me of [name]Zinnia[/name], which isn’t my favorite flower.
[name]Pola[/name]: Sounds like pole, or some sort of derogatory slang term for a Polish woman (I’m sure its not, that’s just how I perceive it).
So, my favorite is [name]Zahara[/name] (spelled that way).
[name]Delilah[/name] is pretty and my choice.
[name]Love[/name] your response. Thank you!!
[name]Eden[/name] has become a “pageant name.”
[name]Just[/name] because there is a little girl on toddlers and tiaras (or some god awful show like that) named [name]Eden[/name] doesn’t give [name]Eden[/name] its definition… giving it that energy is what is trashy imo
[name]Indigo[/name] - Like this, there are also similar names [name]Inigo[/name], [name]Ines[/name], [name]India[/name] and [name]Iris[/name].
[name]Delilah[/name] - nms, but it’s pretty, just remember some people don’t like its biblical roots.
[name]Sahara[/name] - I can’t really comment on this as in my language it means witch, but I think if I didn’t know that it would be ok
[name]Eden[/name] - It’s not bad.
[name]Snow[/name] - Not mad about this, maybe a middle?
[name]Zenna[/name] - I’m crushing on Z names at the moment, but I don’t like this much.
[name]Pola[/name]
