Need help deciding

Hello! I love the sound of [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], but hesitant if I should use it as a first name or a middle (due to [name_m]Samson[/name_m] & [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], Hey there [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], meaning languishing). Connotations don’t bother me personally, but I don’t want my baby to get constant reminders by other people. What do you think?

If keeping [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] in the middle spot, what first name do you think flows with it? I’m open to any suggestions.

(Other names that I like : [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], [name_f]Avalon[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_u]Rain[/name_u], [name_u]Tempest[/name_u])

  • [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] as a first name
  • [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] as a middle name

I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]’s fine as a first name, but I agree that it depends on the combo.

I like [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] as a first name, I think [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Dee[/name_f] or even [name_f]Deedee[/name_f] are cute nicknames.

Delilah [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

I agree with @anon68906791. It definitely depends on the name you want to pair it with. [name_u]Love[/name_u] her suggestion of [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]!! [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] would also be lovely.

I agree with PPs that it depends on the combo. That said, since [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] get plenty of use I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is less likely to raise eyebrows in terms of the connotations you mention. I have met a little [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] at a gathering and I don’t remember there being any comments about her name. Also, for what it’s worth, I didn’t know it meant “languishing” until now and I’m a name nerd, so I don’t imagine the general population is aware of that. ([name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and “Hey There, [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]”, maybe.)

I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is popular enough these days that those associations aren’t too prevalent. [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] has such wonderful flow

I know a lovely little girl called [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] from a [name_u]Christian[/name_u] family, you can always reclaim names.

But if that bothers you have you considered [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] (pronounced the american way dah-[name_f]Leah[/name_f])

Or a spelling derivation of [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] such as [name_f]Dalila[/name_f]

Ok first off- you have an amazing list of names here… but [name_f]Avalon[/name_f], [name_u]Rain[/name_u], and [name_u]Tempest[/name_u] (especially) stick out so sorely; recommend getting rid of those! [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] is a Toyota car and a National apt chain… I’ve lived in several [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] apartments in different states. Also sounds like a makeup brand? Sorry!

Delilah is an absolutely stunningly gorgeous name and can (And should) take the stage to be the first name!

Recs:
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] (fave)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Nadine[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]

I also LOVE [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the H in [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] - don’t get rid of it like someone suggested!

I love [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] as FN, I don’t see any problems with it. You can find a bad association in any name. So if you like it, totally go for it. I agree with other berries, just be careful with a MN. A classic and not too long MN should work perfectly! Some examples are:
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
