We only have a few weeks left before we get to meet our little girl, and we are struggling with picking her name. Our first daughter is Olivia Rayne and we are looking for something similar for our second little one. We are very outdoorsy and would love to find a name that resembles just that. Elinor and Mara do not have middle name options yet as we can’t seem to find anything that flows well. Please let me know what you think about the names below or if you have any suggestions! Thank you all!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] here. I’m guessing the apprehension with [name_m]Ridge[/name_m] and [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] is the -r ending? Personally when I say it out loud I think [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_m]Ridge[/name_m] actually sounds really nice and the twos names don’t run together the way some back-to-back Rs might.
I really like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [name_m]Ridge[/name_m]!
Some other outdoorsy ideas to go with [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] could be:
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_u]Ocean[/name_u] (both girls could get water-themed names)
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] Pebble
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Blossom[/name_f]
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] Lyme (thinking like the rock, then both girls get a ‘y’)
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_m]Heath[/name_m]
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_u]Grove[/name_u]
What about [name_f]Maren[/name_f]? To me, she feels soft yet spunky and shares a similar sound to [name_f]Mara[/name_f]. And, bonus, it means sea!
[name_f]Maren[/name_f] [name_m]Ridge[/name_m] could totally work. [name_u]Or[/name_u], you may like:
[name_f]Maren[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (if you use the “line” pronunciation instead of “len”)
[name_f]Maren[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
From your list, I think I like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [name_m]Ridge[/name_m] best. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] are a sweet sibset! [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] would also be sweet!
I really like [name_f]Mara[/name_f] for you and also @justlikeflorida’s suggestion of [name_f]Maren[/name_f] [name_m]Ridge[/name_m].
[name_u]Or[/name_u], maybe you would like [name_f]Mara[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] (so-LAY meaning sun) which I think is lovely.
[name_f]Mara[/name_f] is my favourite, and it has a really great outdoorsy association with the [name_u]Masai[/name_u] [name_f]Mara[/name_f] game reserve in [name_u]Kenya[/name_u]. With that association, you could even consider choosing a non-nature themed middle if you like as it’s already covered.
These are all lovely options, but [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is my favorite as a sister for [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and I like that it lets you use your chosen middle!
I like….
Olivi@ R@yne and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
I prefer this spelling of [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], but [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is fine, also. I feel [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] needs a name to match it’s elegance and sophistication. [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], in my opinion, works best. I like that they are both three syllables. [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] would be my second choice.
For a middle name, I think [name_m]Ridge[/name_m] sounds too harsh and masculine. [name_u]Rayne[/name_u] has a very feminine sound, reminding me of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Jayne[/name_f]. Though you are thinking nature names, you have changed the spelling from [name_u]Rain[/name_u] to [name_u]Rayne[/name_u], so it is not absolutely obvious. I like how both middle names would begin with the same letter and would be one syllable.
Olivi@ R@yne and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Either name would be beautiful.
