Need help- do these sound too silly with my last name?

[name]Hi[/name] everyone! I wanted to know people’s opinions about how these names sounded with my last name. What are your first impressions? These are 2 boys names I like a lot and I’m not sure I can use them…

[name]Ryder[/name] [name]Long[/name]

[name]Miles[/name] [name]Long[/name]

My husband pointed out [name]Ryder[/name] [name]Long[/name] sounds like “ride her long” and I don’t want everyone thinking of that when they meet my son
[name]Miles[/name] [name]Long[/name] is obvious, people might think we did it on purpose and that’s just hokey…anyway what do you think?

Yeah, sorry, neither really work for me. I think [name]Miles[/name] [name]Long[/name] is the better of the two–I can’t get past the whole “ride her” thing when I see [name]Ryder[/name] in general… [name]Ryder[/name] [name]Long[/name] is even worse, imo. :frowning: What about [name]Milo[/name] [name]Long[/name]? I think that nicely avoids the whole “miles long” issue.

I love [name]Milo[/name]!! It would totally be my first choice, but say it out loud with my last name, doesn’t the double L thing sound funny, or do you think it could work??

I think [name]Milo[/name] [name]Long[/name] could definitely work! Good luck:)

Sorry to say but neither of those names work with your surname. For me [name]Milo[/name] [name]Long[/name] is a mouthful. Any other options?

Choose something that doesn’t sound like a verb or adjective with [name]Long[/name] is my recommendation.

I agree with everyone else. [name]Milo[/name] [name]Long[/name] is okay but there’s a lot of O in those 2 short names.

[name]Miles[/name] [name]Long[/name] almost sounds like a joke to me. But [name]Milo[/name] [name]Long[/name] is adorable! I agree with the mouthful of L’s and O’s but I honestly don’t understand why Nameberry has SUCH a problem with names FLOWING PERFECTLY. It just doesn’t need to happen to create a perfect full name. Unless your child is president (that would be awesome and I think his name would be the least of his worries) then not many people will be saying his entire full name in one breath many times in his life. Maybe calling attendance in elementary school. But 10 year olds don’t care. Use the name you like (within reason! [name]Don[/name]'t go for anything like [name]Chris[/name] P. Bacon!) and I know your son will love it.

My name is four syllables in my first and middle name and five in my last name but whenever I say my name, NO [name]ONE[/name] gives me weird looks. Proof.

Wow you have a tough choice. I’d stick to something classic with the surname [name]Long[/name] - although you couldn’t even have [name]William[/name] [name]Long[/name] ([name]Willy[/name] [name]Long[/name] - aahhh!). [name]Miles[/name] [name]Long[/name] DEFINITELY sounds like a joke (please don’t do it) although I didn’t immediately see the [name]Ryder[/name] as Ride Her so that would be my preference although I think it’s a bit short. Have you considered 3 or 4 syllable names? e.g.:

[name]Sebastian[/name] [name]Long[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] [name]Long[/name]
[name]Atticus[/name] [name]Long[/name]
[name]Xavier[/name] [name]Long[/name]
[name]Dominic[/name] [name]Long[/name]
[name]Malakai[/name] [name]Long[/name]
[name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Long[/name]
[name]Finnegan[/name] [name]Long[/name]
[name]Julian[/name] [name]Long[/name]
[name]Jameson[/name] [name]Long[/name]
[name]Addison[/name] [name]Long[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name] [name]Long[/name]
[name]Augustus[/name] [name]Long[/name]

Thanks everyone for your input! I do of course have many other names I am considering but those 3 were just ones I really loved and wanted to make sure I could definitely not use them(which I will not be doing now thank u very much).
I think I may end up using [name]Nathan[/name] [name]Parker[/name] or [name]Weston[/name] [name]Parker[/name]. [name]Parker[/name] is a family name and I think it makes a nice middle name choice. Of course by the time I have my next I will probably have changed my mind 50 more times(not even pregnant yet but trying!). Thanks again everyone!!
