We are expecting a baby girl in [name]September[/name] and have had a difficult time agreeing on a name. I have loved [name]Eleanor[/name] from the beginning, as that was my grandma’s name, but hubby doesn’t like it as much. He does like the nn [name]Ellie[/name] (which–as a nn, while common, I can live with since that is what my grandma went by.) But he is leaning more towards naming her [name]Lilia[/name] (which, inevitably will have a nn of [name]Lily[/name]…SO common!) I do love both names, and although the nn’s are common, I even love them, but I am honestly losing sleep over which to go with. SO, which do you all prefer??
I much prefer [name]Lilia[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name].
[name]Sophia[/name] is so overly used now, I’m just beyond tired of it. [name]Even[/name] in the middle spot.
I love both [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Lilia[/name] so [name]Lilia[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] is an instant winner to me. And if you don’t want her nickname to be [name]Lily[/name], then just don’t call her that. She doesn’t need a nickname, and if you think she does then try [name]Lil[/name], [name]Lili[/name] (lee-lee), [name]Lia[/name] ([name]Lee[/name]-ah).
I think [name]Lilia[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] is lovely and this way you both get to use the name you like. Plus, you can still call her [name]Ellie[/name] if her mn is [name]Eleanor[/name] and everyone is happy.
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]! I know lots of baby Lilys, and [name]Eleanor[/name] has a personal connection with you, so I think that makes it more special.
I would prefer [name]Eleanor[/name]. What does he think of [name]Nora[/name]?
[name]Lilia[/name] would be lost in a sea of [name]Lillian[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Layla[/name], [name]Lola[/name], [name]Lila[/name], and Leahs.
I am drawn to [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] as a combo a lot, but I think [name]Lilia[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] actually gets my vote. There’s just something about it! I think it’s because [name]Liliana[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] are both on my short list, and I can imagine using [name]Liliana[/name]/[name]Lily[/name] above [name]Eleanor[/name], personally. [name]Lilia[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] is so striking and beautiful!
I don’t think it’d be too hard to make sure she’s always [name]Lilia[/name], rather than [name]Lily[/name] S. or [name]Lily[/name] Q. or whatever, although I am quite fond of the nn [name]Lily[/name], personally.
Thanks for all of the responses! I’m no closer to coming to a decision, so I guess I will have to wait until I meet her! I also like the nn [name]Nora[/name] for [name]Eleanor[/name], but my son’s name is [name]Noah[/name], so that wouldn’t work… who knew naming number 3 would be so hard (1 and 2 were named for years before they were even born!)
