Hello , everyone. A good friend recommended me the name berry forums to look for help to name my baby girl. She’s my first born and the naming is tricky. My wife and I agreed on [name_f]Anya[/name_f] for a girl and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] for a boy until we moved to the UK and got a little bit of information in english history. Or last name is Boleyn, therefore [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is too close to [name_f]Anne[/name_f]. Though it’s not enough to make us fall out of love with the combination and the name, we would like to explore other options too.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think the name being close is a problem?
What middle names would you suggest we try? (We thought of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] but that’s [name_f]Anne[/name_f]'s daughter’s name so maybe a bit too close, not that we mind)
What other names would you suggest for us?
I think it’s fine! If you were thinking about [name_f]Anne[/name_f], I’d say avoid it, but [name_f]Anya[/name_f] seems different enough to me, especially if you love it so much that it was your first choice
I would avoid it to prevent any negative connotations, though [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] seems fine. Some suggestions are:
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] (I think it’s different enough from [name_f]Anne[/name_f])
[name_f]Angelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Angelica[/name_f]
[name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Liliya[/name_f]
[name_f]Varya[/name_f]
I like these combinations the most:
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Liliya[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Varya[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
Congrats on your first born and good luck with choosing a name!
I love the name [name_f]Anya[/name_f], and I think you should just use it it if that’s your favorite. One of my daughters is named [name_f]Sonia[/name_f], which rhymes with [name_f]Anya[/name_f], maybe you’d like that too. There’s also ”ine which is pronounced like OWN-ya instead of ON-ya. I think it could be spelled Onya as well. Good luck!
