Need help naming our valentine!

We have two boys and baby sister is due in [name_f]February[/name_f]. We have a few contenders but I’m wavering.

For our boys, F3LIX and HARV3Y, we wanted names that were easy to spell when heard and easy to pronounce when seen. Their middle names honor family members and we’d like to keep that trend.

Our top choice for a girl while naming F was [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] which has multiple pronunciations and isn’t necessarily easy to spell. We’d pronounce it as rhyming with [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]. My own name is unique/international and I’m not sure I want to put her through that too.

Another top contender (middle name?) is [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] for two reasons:

  1. [name_u]June[/name_u] is my husband’s grandma’s name as well as his mother’s middle.
  2. We found out we were expecting while vacationing at a favorite spot that has juniper trees all over the place and thought this would be a fun shout-out.

An alternative middle name choice is [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]. My grandmother’s middle name is [name_u]Lee[/name_u] which seems masculine to me, but I like the idea of honoring her with a more feminine spelling.

Initially her name was decided as [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] and two days later, we switched to [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]. I’m just not sure I love it. Neither of us is crazy about [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] as a whole and we’d probably end up calling her [name_f]Juni[/name_f].

Other considerations are/were [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] & [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] (both with concerns about [name_f]LINE[/name_f] vs [name_u]LYNN[/name_u]) and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], which was our top choice for H before we knew his gender, but it’s become quite popular since then.

I’d love suggestions on the above or any new options! I don’t feel like the boys names really go together and thus am stuck on how to proceed with this one!

(Side notes: I’d prefer 2+ syllables as our last name is 1 syllable starting with a W. We’d also like to have different first initials, so other F & H names are out) Thanks!

I love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]!

If those are not quite right, might you like [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]?

I think part of my problem is that I like both combos! I’ll have to throw [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] by my husband. Thanks!

I love both [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_u]June[/name_u]! Would [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] (li-[name_f]NAYA[/name_f]) or [name_f]Leah[/name_f] fit as a middle name to honour [name_u]Lee[/name_u] for you? If they aren’t perfect maybe you would like…

[name_f]Junia[/name_f]
[name_f]Auria[/name_f]
[name_f]Arielle[/name_f]

Out of all the names you’ve mentioned above, my favourite would definitely have to be [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]! It’s absolutely stunning. But, as you mentioned, it has many different pronunciations, and as someone who’s very close to someone names [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], I can tell you that 98% of the time her name is pronounced wrong. That would probably be my only concern if I was going to name my daughter [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f].

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is pretty, but I’m personally not a huge fan of it. It does seem to have a few nice sentimental ties for you, which is really sweet. I wouldn’t call it popular, and I don’t personally know anyone with the name, but I hear it mentioned all. the. time. I feel as though it does fit better with your son’s names than [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] does, but if you’re not really sure you love it, I probably wouldn’t use it.

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] are both cute, especially [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], which I really like. It doesn’t go perfectly with your boy’s names, but I think it could still work. I pronounce [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] ev-an-jah-LEEN (I think that what you’re referring to when you say [name_f]LINE[/name_f] vs [name_u]LYNN[/name_u]) and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]CLEM[/name_u]-en-tine. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] I think is also really pretty, although I don’t think its that popular. I know one [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], and one girl with [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] as her middle name, although you did say no more H names, so that’s probably out.

Regarding middle names, I like [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], but I have to say I do prefer [name_u]Lee[/name_u] (it is my middle name, after all). [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] would also be a nice middle name, and I think [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] could work too if you’re worried abut popularity and initials.

Some combo suggestions:
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]

Other suggestions:
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]

Congrats on your little girl.

I love the sentimental reasons behind [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], but if you don’t love it as a whole, better not use it as a first name. Or maybe, maybe, what about [name_u]June[/name_u] as a stand alone? Or [name_f]Junia[/name_f]? [name_f]Juno[/name_f]?

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] are my own top choices for a future daughter (and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is somewhere on the longer list too), so I obviously like your taste and think these are stunning. However, if you’re not sure you love them and pronunciation/spelling is a real concern for you (especially in [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] case), I say better keep looking.

What about [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]? In a way, it’s similar to [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], but with far less pronunciation and spelling diffeence issue. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] or [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] would be so lovely.

[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] - similar to [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], but simpler.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] is outstanding. Absolutely.

Maybe you would like…

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], but I’m never sure which pronunciation to use, so I see the problem there. I also love [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], but it doesn’t sound like you’re sold on it as a first name. I think you could use [name_u]June[/name_u] as a middle, or [name_u]Lee[/name_u], and switch up the first name.

I also love [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (and FWIW, I have only heard them each pronounced one way in real life–“clem-en-tyne” and “e-[name_u]VAN[/name_u]-juh-leen.”)

I’m really drawn [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u], it seems so sweet and pretty and down to earth. I also like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u].

I absolutely see your problem with [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] - it’s beautiful but there are many pronunciation options and not really any consensus on which pronunciation is the most popular.

But I wouldn’t share your worries about pronouncing [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - I’ve never heard it pronounced either lynn or line to rhyme with fine - it’s always a leen ending.

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] is super cute!
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] or [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] are also really sweet, although it sounds like you might not be sold on it enough for first position?

Aurelia June is gorgeous! What about Aurelia Junely as a smooth of June and Lee? Is that my Xmas shopping fatigue or is it really pretty? Or Aurelia June-Leigh W?

I myself don’t like Juniper that much. Like it as a middle but the -per part isn’t appealing to me. I prefer June (as a first too).

Evangeline is charming, but there are so many Evie’s out there, which would put me off. Clementine is cool - with Matilda, it’s almost an Australian folkname!

Actually, Matilda June-Leigh or Matilda June would be pretty fab - the nickname options of Tilly and then Tilda for a teen/adult are great.

Other names you might like:

Amalia June
Josephine June-Leigh
Junia Leah
Juliet Lee-Lee / Lily
Cordelia June-Leigh

(I think a longer first name - 3+ syllables - sounds better with Junely or June-Leigh with a one syllable last name. But of course could just have Leigh or June and still work!)

My favorite out of your options is [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] - it’s beautiful and fits perfectly with your boys. My own name gets misspelled and mispronounced a lot of the time but I don’t really care about it honestly, it’s been this way all my life. And the people who will use her name the most (family and friends) will spell and pronounce it correctly.

I also like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] with your boys - [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is my personal favorite out of the two. I like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] too but it feels a little mismatched, more modern than the other names.

What about [name_f]Julia[/name_f] or [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] to honor [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_u]Lee[/name_u] at once? I really like the idea of [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] or [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Julia[/name_f].

I like all your options so far! Other suggestions:

My first thought was [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]

Others:

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgina[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] (pr. [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-la but could cause pronunciation issues I suppose!)
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_f]Nancy[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]

X

From your list, I’d choose [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]

I think [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is going to cause lots of spelling and pronunciation queries and mistakes :frowning:

My suggestions:

[name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] (called [name_f]Juni[/name_f])

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]/[name_f]Junia[/name_f]/[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] (called [name_f]Daisy[/name_f])

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]

[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]

Why not [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]?
To me, [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] already has the “[name_u]Lee[/name_u]” sound in it, so I don’t think you need both!
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] doesn’t fit well with [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]IMO[/name_f], they’re just too different. I like the suggestion of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] with your boys names and I think [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] works.
Best wishes!

@amelia_isabel’s suggestion of [name_f]Julia[/name_f] or [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] as honouring both [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] is inspired! Eg [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Julia[/name_f] W has a nice rhythm - all for 2-3 syllable middle before single syllable last!

I like [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]. I pronounce them uh-[name_u]RAY[/name_u]-lee-uh and i-[name_u]VAN[/name_u]-juh-leen. I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is cute, but I wouldn’t use it if you don’t like the full name. I’ll add:

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]

More and more I feel like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] will be the [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] of the current generation. I doubt it will ever reach the top ten, but it is awfully trendy. I prefer the simpler [name_u]June[/name_u] myself.

I would go with a name that is more familiar like your sons’ names. [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is beautiful but will have the pronunciation and spelling issues that you want to avoid. It seems like you aren’t into [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]/[name_u]June[/name_u] very much but are you wanting to use one for sure as an honor name? [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] are my daughter’s middle names so I’m partial to them. I actually think something like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] would go great with your sons’ names but I know you’re wanting to not use the ‘h’ initial again. [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] are great choices!

Others:
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Millie[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]

Combos:
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]

Oh berries, you have so many good suggestions! Many of these names were on my “short list” which was 30 names long! [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]… They sadly all got nixed for various reasons. I love the suggestion of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] but someone very close to us recently miscarried and said they would have named her [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] so I don’t feel comfortable using it.

I think multiple posters are right that [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] (while having sentimental value) doesn’t fit. After discussing with my husband, I think our front-runner is [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], but I’m happy to continue receiving suggestions!

Thanks all!

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] is lovely. I pronounce [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] Aw-[name_u]RAY[/name_u]-lee-a but personally I don’t really mind some difference in pronunciation (as long as I don’t hate any of them, which in [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] case, I don’t).
