[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone,
I’ve felt immense dysphoria for my birth name for quite a while now. I’ve finally decided that enough is enough, and that I want to change it. However, what to change it to is quite a debacle, so I need your help.
First, let me describe myself.
I’m a girl in her teens, tall, with light brown wavy hair, green eyes with dark lashes, and freckles. I like a variety of fashion styles, and wear what suits my mood. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourites would probably be dark academia, cottagecore, and formal attire. I’m good with makeup, and I love getting dressed up. I read a lot, both non fiction and fiction. I’d describe myself as academically focused, and I love the areas of law, economics, business and psychology.
I don’t like names with an intuitive nickname like my real name. I want a name that feels smart, sophisticated and feminine.
While it’s popular, I really love the name [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], meaning “wisdom”. Would it get shortened to Soph/Sophie a lot? I like [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] but not [name_f]Soph[/name_f]. However, I am unable to use [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] due to a friend, so I wonder if that would cause a knock on affect to [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is also nice and it means “work”, which reflects my ambitious nature. I don’t think it has an intuitive nickname which is good. I would also like to use [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], but I closely know people of that name, same with [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
These are just examples, albeit, popular ones, so I’ll also give you all a list of names I like that are less popular:
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] (clashes with surname)
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilie[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
I’d really appreciate it if you all could help with my naming endeavour. Any suggestions you provide will be of great help.
Thank you so much!

[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is nice, however, it may well get shortened to [name_f]Soph[/name_f] (more likely to that than Sophie) and if you have a friend called [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], I’d skip over [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] too. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f] are nice too and match your criteria!
Some other ideas:
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] (means hardworking)
[name_f]Helen[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Sibyl[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] (means laurel - as in, getting laurels for recognition of hard work)
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
