Need help -- too girly or just the right amount? Suggestions?

My hubby and I are expecting baby #3! We have 2 sons, [name_u]Bryce[/name_u] and [name_u]Brennan[/name_u]. The “B” name beginnings were not intentional. With our last son, I had it narrowed down to 5 names and my husband picked the only “B” name on the list. So….we are not sticking with a “B” name this time! We are not finding out gender this time and have a boy name picked out already. BUT, in case this little one is a girl, I need help!!

My favorites are [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Juliana[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], and [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]. My hubby does not like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] at all! What does everyone think about [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]? I love it — just wanted to see if you thought it was over the top frilly. I was thinking we could call her [name_u]Ari[/name_u] as a nickname. The MN I have my mind set on is [name_u]Sage[/name_u]. Thoughts?

Any similar suggestions to my naming tastes (not sure what similarities they have!)? Since I’m a mommy to 2 boys, I’m a little out of my element when it comes to naming girls!

I think [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] is lovely and balanced. The mn is a favorite of mine. [name_u]Bryce[/name_u], [name_u]Brennan[/name_u], and [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] go well together. What name have you picked out for a boy?

I think it’s really pretty. I like the combo and I really love [name_u]Ari[/name_u] for a nn.

Edited for privacy.

I love [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], and [name_u]Ari[/name_u] as a nn is adorable! I feel like the only reason I wouldn’t go for [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] is that I’d want both an [name_u]Ari[/name_u] AND a [name_f]Bella[/name_f], and with [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], my options would be limited to one or the other. If you are sure you want [name_u]Ari[/name_u], and are worried [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] is too frilly, there’s the similar [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] or even just [name_f]Arielle[/name_f], and I think they are both lovely. I love [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], though, and it’s sweet with [name_u]Bryce[/name_u] and [name_u]Brennan[/name_u].

Good luck!

I like [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u], it sounds nice, and nn [name_u]Ari[/name_u] has recently become one of my favorites. I only have a few suggestions, so here they are: [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], or [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]. [name_f]Happy[/name_f] naming!

I don’t think it’s too girly but I am tired of the [name_f]Bella[/name_f] names

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] was my first thought too. It shares B and R with her brothers, but in a more subtle way.

Thanks ladies! We have agreed on [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] for a boy  I’m still trying to sell my husband on a girl name though. I can’t seem to find a name he likes! I am going to campaign for [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] though! [name_m]Even[/name_m] if it is a super girly name, I think the nn [name_u]Ari[/name_u] would balance it out. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t you?

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] is lovely. However of your list my favourite is [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] names would work well with [name_u]Sage[/name_u] as a middle.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is my favorite from your list. I am not a big [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] fan. It is really really frilly.

I love [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]. It’s on my list as well. [name_u]Ari[/name_u] didn’t really strike me (I think [name_u]Ari[/name_u] [name_m]Gold[/name_m] from Entourage) but I have it down with potential nn’s [name_u]Abbie[/name_u] or the sleek [name_f]Elle[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] is very pretty, but it is frilly. My fave on your list is [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], but I actually think [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] sounds best with bros. Like [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], it has the b in there, just not up front.

Ok, the hubby and I are still are not able to settle on a name! He really hasn’t liked the names I’ve suggested, but he’s not giving me any names he likes — so we are at a stand still in the naming process! Here are my top names right now:
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] (pronounced MY-la)
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliana[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Ava[/name_f]…but our last name is Havens and that sounds odd together with all the V’s

Obviously, I seem stuck on names ending with -a. Let me know what you think of my list and if you have any similar suggestions, pass them along please!! I would really appreciate the help!

My first thought as I was reading your post was that [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] would be perfect with [name_u]Bryce[/name_u] and [name_u]Brennan[/name_u]. Then I read the middle name, and I am even more in love! [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] is a stunning combo, one of my favorites that I’ve seen on NB in a long time ^^ The earthy spunkiness of [name_u]Sage[/name_u] is a beautiful counterpoint to [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]‘s lacy femininity, and [name_u]Sage[/name_u] even ties in to the subtle cowboy feel of the brothers’ names. It’s perfect, honestly! I so hope this is the one you go with ^^

It’s a bit frilly, but I don’t think it’s over the top, especially with a short middle name.

I really like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliana[/name_f]. My concern with [name_f]Mila[/name_f] is that it would be frequently mispronounced as MEE-la (especially since it’s now well known the nickname of [name_f]Jenna[/name_f] [name_m]Bush[/name_m]'s daughter). What about [name_f]Liliana[/name_f]? Very feminine and pretty, yet a bit less frilly than [name_f]Arabella[/name_f].

Thanks ladies! We are still struggling with picking “the one”. I don’t know why girl names seem to be so much harder!! My hubby really doesn’t like [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], despite my attempts over the past couple of months to convince him it’s a beautiful name! The names we are debating right now are [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Myla[/name_f] (I don’t like the y in the spelling though!), and [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. What do you all think about those? What comes to mind? What about the [name_f]Mila[/name_f] vs [name_f]Myla[/name_f] pronunciation? Any help would be appreciated! [name_u]Sage[/name_u] is still the front runner for the mn.
