I’m very newly pregnant so we have a long time to figure out names still but we were discussing them earlier today. We both like Sayuri for a first name. SO has two middle names, as does his little sister, and we have decided to continue the tradition. One of the middle names is going to be [name_f]Judith[/name_f], after a recently deceased family friend (we heard the news the same day I took the pregnancy test). I suggested Sayuri [name_f]Judith[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f], but SO vetoed [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] very quickly. I told him to let me know if he thinks of anything else, but in the mean time I thought I’d try here for suggestions.
To give you an idea of our naming styles: My favorite girl name is [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], but SO thinks it’s “weird”. He likes [name_f]Lilly[/name_f], but I don’t. We both like [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].
Some of my other favorites that I haven’t run by him yet include: [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f], [name_f]Xena[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]Taryn[/name_f], [name_u]Sailor[/name_u], [name_f]Vera[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]/[name_f]Cybil[/name_f], [name_u]Cheyenne[/name_u], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_u]Aspen[/name_u].
Thanks for the reply! I like the name [name_u]Vale[/name_u] a lot, but the last name is one syllable so I’m not sure how much I like the sound of two one syllable names in a row, but I’ll keep playing around with different sounds.
Thanks mummamarigold, it still doesn’t feel real yet but we’re excited!
You both have some good ideas. I like the idea of a bridge name and I’ve been thinking of one syllable names as well. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you two have any suggestions that fit both criteria? Or names that are both quirky and classic/older?
It can feel really sureal at first until you start seeing, hearing and feeling your precious one!
Sayuri [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Judith[/name_f] S_ works really well! My only slight hesitation is the repetitive “gen Ju” sound, but it’s really not a problem at all!
Surreal is the perfect word for it! I told my sister that it feels like I’m watching someone else’s life and not actually experiencing it myself.
Sayuri [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Judith[/name_f] is my favorite so far, but it doesn’t quite flow as well as the boys name we have picked out. I also like Sayuri [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] [name_f]Judith[/name_f], even though I’ve always preferred [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] for a boy. Funny how that one also has a repetitive g/j sound.
