Need help with a girls name!

[name]Hi[/name] girls… I’m new here. My name is [name]Leslie[/name] and I’m 31 weeks pregnant We decided to not find out the sex of the baby. We have a few boy names picked out and will decide when we see him. Either [name]Ethan[/name] [name]Douglas[/name] or [name]Carter[/name] [name]Douglas[/name] ([name]Douglas[/name] is after my dad.

We are having a hard time deciding on a girls name. We have a list of names we both like, but neither of [name]LOVE[/name] the names.

My favorites that he vetoed are:
[name]Avery[/name], [name]Brooke[/name], [name]Brynn[/name], [name]Riley[/name], [name]Emmeline[/name], [name]Kelsey[/name], [name]Harper[/name], [name]Hadley[/name], [name]Ryan[/name], [name]Peyton[/name] & [name]Ashton[/name]

His favorites that I vetoed are:
[name]Lulu[/name], [name]Betty[/name], [name]Abigail[/name], [name]Piper[/name], [name]Hunter[/name], [name]Chase[/name], [name]Drew[/name] & [name]Parker[/name]

Names we CAN NOT use, but like (other than the above) are:
Any -Mad names, [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Charlie[/name], [name]Dylan[/name], any -[name]Alex[/name] name, [name]Kristin[/name] & [name]Emily[/name]

Our current list:
[name]Grace[/name], [name]Kate[/name], [name]Blake[/name], [name]Emma[/name] & [name]Lauren[/name]

Our favorite on the list is [name]Blake[/name] then I realized that the baby would have the initials BJ… probably not the best… so, B names are out :(. Our second favorite is [name]Grace[/name] and that is what her name will be if I can not find a name that he will agree to.

So, can any of you think of any names that are not on any of the above lists that we may like? We both seem to like unisex names, but have not found any that we agree on other than [name]Blake[/name] (he told me that he liked [name]Peyton[/name] until about a month ago… sigh)

Oh, and … he does not like names ending in -A other than [name]Emma[/name]… Men!

Thanks so much, girls

I like [name]Blake[/name]. [name]Grace[/name]. [name]Kate[/name]. [name]Emma[/name], and [name]Lauren[/name] are all nice, but very different from any of the other names you both seem to like.

Also, I wouldn’t let bad initials stop you if [name]Blake[/name] is the name you both truly love- they aren’t used that often, and she can always use all three initials when they are needed.

Other names to consider…

[name]Hi[/name] there, [name]Leslie[/name]. Without knowing your last name, it’s pretty hard to know if suggested names work. Hmm… Are you looking for unisex names or are you open to other styles? (You’ve listed trendy/unisex names, as wells as classic and vintage names.)

I think your husband’s idea of [name]Lulu[/name] is cute, but as a nickname for [name]Louisa[/name] or [name]Lucy[/name].

[name]Grace[/name]: I think [name]Grace[/name] is really pretty, but it’s also really popular. (This may or may not bother you, but it’s something to consider.)

[name]Kate[/name]: I think [name]Kate[/name] is great. I think of it as a nickname for [name]Katherine[/name]/[name]Catherine[/name], but do think it’s strong enough on its own.

[name]Blake[/name]: This one isn’t my style, but this is your baby, and if you love it, go for it! [name]Blakely[/name] could be a more feminine option.

[name]Emma[/name]: This is the number one name in the country (and I believe [name]Emily[/name] is ranked number three), so your little one will definitely be one of many, many Emmas and nicknamed Ems and Emmies.

[name]Lauren[/name]: [name]Lauren[/name] is really dated/trendy (1980s). What about [name]Laura[/name] or [name]Laurel[/name]?

From your list, depending on your last name, I’d go with either [name]Kate[/name]/[name]Katherine[/name] or [name]Grace[/name].

[name]Esme[/name] (Ez-may)

Good luck!

I just want to add that if your husband likes [name]Emma[/name], what about [name]Gemma[/name] (“jem-ma”)? And what about [name]Greer[/name]/[name]Grier[/name] as an alternative to [name]Grace[/name] (if [name]Grace[/name]'s popularity bothers you)?

Best wishes to you!

I think you have some great suggestions already but I wanted to throw a few more in (as I think we have somewhat similar naming styles)
